Today starts Autism awareness month. For years the men & woman of the Hawthorne Police Department have worn a puzzle piece on their uniform to bring forward awareness to this important issue. With tactical vest carriers, it’s difficult to display a small pin. Our PBA has designed this Velcro patch to better display the cause they support. I’m proud of their initiative, ambition and continued support. I can only wait for their creativity when it comes to other key topics such as mental illness, domestic violence & breast cancer awareness to name a few.
Congrats to PBA President Ian Spohn and the members of NJPBA Local 200.

As we take time today to look back at our ancestors, grandparents and parents around the globe who served their countries 100 years ago today ending the Great War, we must still remember all of the women & men who have served after them and those who still do. When you see a veteran, thank a veteran for what they’ve done, giving us what we have today ..
