The Wayne Fire Department POL Company 2 is regretfully announcing the passing of one of our lifelong members, Doug McGilvary. Doug was the backbone of the department, serving as our long time secretary, resident handyman, and expert on all things from truck design to the different types of fire hydrants around the country. His contributions to this department and the township as a whole have been greatly appreciated and he will be missed by all.

[Mutual Aid] On Friday, 11/1/24, at approximately 2243 hours, Wayne Fire Company 2 was requested to assist Lincoln Park Fire in the containment of a Brush Fire off of route 202. Engine 2-1 responded and assisted in the containment and mop up of the fire.

[Brush Fire] On Friday, 11/1/2024, at approximately 1259 hours, Wayne Fire companies 2 and 5 were dispatched to a reported brush fire on the route 23 jug handle by Reloaderz. Upon arrival the fire was sized up to be 100x100' with a rapid rate of growth. Engine 2-1, 2-2, 5-1, 5-2, and Rescue 5 responded along with the New Jersey Forest Fire Service. Due to the fire weather conditions, the fire quickly grew in size and a second alarm was requested for Wayne Company 3. The fire was contained to the size of half an acre. [Brush Fire] On Tuesday, 10/22/2024 at approximately 1603 hours Wayne Fire companies 1 and 2 were dispatched to a reported brush fire in the area of Parish drive and Maple lane. 411 arrived on scene and confirmed a brush fire in the backyard of a structure. Engine 2-2 and Brush Truck 1-5 arrived on scene to contain the fire before it was able to spread to any significant structures. Thank you to for assisting and thank you to for providing traffic control in the area.

[MVA roll over] On Friday, 10/18/24, at approximately 2150 hours, Wayne Fire Companies 2 and 5 were dispatched to a motor vehicle roll over along the main body of route 23 northbound. Due to our cigar night fundraiser, was also added to the call for additional manpower. Chief 2 arrived on scene and confirmed a 2 car MVA with a roll over. Engine 2-1 arrived on scene for fire suppression and to secure the vehicles for the tow companies. arrived on scene to provide patient care for the driver one of the vehicles. All fire units were cleared from the scene by 2240 hours.
