💙🙌Wayne Community Schools is excited to welcome Chris Clinchard to team !

Having served Wayne Community Schools as a K-12 Substitute Teacher for the past four years, Chris Clinchard is joining the Wayne Elementary team full-time as a fifth grade teacher. He and his wife, Crystal, have two sons, Jonathan and Jacob; two daughters, Jessica and Jordyn; and one daughter-in-law, Katie, who is married to Jacob.

Excited to return to the classroom after a 20-year hiatus, Chris previously taught fifth and sixth grades in Omaha for nine years. He is also an avid reader of books, drinker of coffee, and feeder of squirrels.

Prior to living in Wayne, the Clinchards lived for seven years in Istanbul, Turkey. If your kids have ever come home and shared the Turkish words they learned at school, now you know why!

We’re excited to have Mr. Clinchard sharing his skills and experience with Wayne students. Welcome to the Blue Devil family! 💙🙌

💧 How many drops can fit on a penny? 🪙

Our Biology students put water properties to the test today during our penny drop lab!

Using pipettes, students carefully counted how many drops of plain water vs. soapy water could balance on the surface of a single penny.

The science behind it? Cohesion and surface tension!

Tap Water: Hydrogen bonds pull water molecules tightly together (cohesion), creating high surface tension that forms a giant dome over the penny before spilling over.

Soapy Water: Soap acts as a surfactant, breaking those hydrogen bonds and lowering surface tension—meaning significantly fewer drops fit before the dome collapses!

Awesome job by our scientists focusing hard, collecting data, and making observations 🧪✨
