June 20th marked the official first day of summer. Through all of the fun that summer brings, it is important to bring awareness to the increased rate of Intimate Partner Violence (IPV) and Domestic Abuse (DA).

A couple of risk factors include but are not limited to heat, increased family time, increased alcohol consumption, and childcare routine disruptions. These factors can lead to increased stress, but it is never an excuse for violent or abusive behaviors.

It is important to keep an eye out when you begin to notice these risks. If you or someone you know is being impacted by IPV and/or DA, please reach out for help. Please don’t hesitate to call our crisis line, and please call 911 if you are in immediate danger or in fear for your life.
