The start of West Virginia’s annual spring fire season on Sunday, March 1, marks the return of burning restrictions.

The West Virginia Division of Forestry (WV DOF) reminds residents to confine outdoor burning to 5 p.m. to 7 a.m., according to West Virginia State Code Chapter 20-3-5. Fires set during that time must be put out before 7 a.m.

East Lynn Road ( Rt. 37 ) near Marvin Adkins farm is open with one lane at this time.
Please use caution when traveling this area as repair crews are on scene working to get utility lines out of the west bound lane.

We hope you all had a wonderful Christmas. We wanted to update everyone on our Boot Drive and Fill the Firetruck. With your help we were able to provide smiles on Christmas morning to 130 children. We can't thank this community enough for always stepping up, we couldn't do this without you. -WVFD

A very Big Thank You to the Community of Wayne for supporting our fill the fire truck Christmas toy drive.

We successfully filled the truck.

The members of Wayne Volunteer Fire Department will be out on Brinkley Bridge in Newtown, Saturday November 8, 2025 from 9am-3pm for our annual boot drive. All proceeds from this go towards helping children within our community at Christmas.🎅🎄🚒👨‍🚒

Last year this community helped us to provide 274 children with smiles on Christmas morning. We could never do this without your support. Thank you for being a big part of neighbors helping neighbors.
