Lions…Tigers and Bear 🐻 Hunters Oh My!!

We were so excited to get to meet more of our hunters today, they followed the clues and it led them to great prizes.

We had some exciting visitors stop by WPS today! They’d been on a bear hunt 🐻!

Don’t forget to join the fun, start at the public library and take your hunting passport to all the hunt locations to track the bear. Stop by WPS when you’re done to collect your prize.

(Open to any child in Burke County! Hunt runs through the summer!)

Seguimos buscando osos... ¡durante todo el verano!

La Escuela Primaria Waynesboro (Waynesboro Primary School) invita con entusiasmo a las familias a participar en nuestro "Story Walk" (recorrido de lectura) de la Búsqueda de Osos del Verano; una aventura comunitaria de alfabetización diseñada para mantener a los estudiantes leyendo, explorando y aprendiendo durante toda la temporada estival.

🌟 Cómo funciona:

📍 Comiencen en la Biblioteca Pública del Condado de Burke (Burke County Public Library) a partir del 8 de junio.

Díganle al bibliotecario:
🗣️ "¡Estoy buscando un oso!"

Las familias:
✅ Recibirán un libro gratis
✅ Obtendrán un Pasaporte de la Búsqueda de Osos
✅ Aprenderán cómo obtener una tarjeta de la biblioteca
✅ Comenzarán su aventura

Luego, visiten cada una de las 4 ubicaciones comunitarias participantes para descubrir historias, recopilar pistas y obtener un sello en su pasaporte.

🐾 ¡Pueden completar la búsqueda en un solo día o distribuirla a lo largo del verano!

Una vez que hayan reunido los 5 sellos:

🎁 ¡Lleven su pasaporte completo a la Escuela Primaria Waynesboro para reclamar su premio! (¡Entréguenlo en la biblioteca de WPS después del 13 de julio o durante la jornada de puertas abiertas/Open House!)

🐻📚 The Summer Bear Hunt Begins Monday, June 8! 📚🐻

We're still on a bear hunt... all summer long!

Waynesboro Primary School is excited to invite families to participate in our Summer Bear Hunt Story Walk, a community literacy adventure designed to keep students reading, exploring, and learning throughout the summer.

🌟 How It Works:

📍 Start at the Burke County Public Library beginning June 8.

Tell the librarian:
🗣️ "I'm on the search for a bear!"

Families will:
✅ Receive a free book
✅ Pick up a Bear Hunt Passport
✅ Learn how to get a library card
✅ Begin their adventure

Then, visit each of our 4 participating community locations to discover stories, collect clues, and earn a stamp in your passport.

🐾 You can complete the hunt all in one day or spread it out throughout the summer!

Once you've collected all 5 stamps:

📱 Scan the QR code
🎁 Bring your completed passport to Waynesboro Primary School to claim your prize! (Bring to the WPS library after July 13 or during Open House!)

📅 Hunt Dates:
June 8 – Open House

Join us as we encourage summer reading, family fun, and community exploration—one story at a time!

Who knows? You might even find the bear! 🐻

Classroom Hero: Mrs Christy Palmer. Thank you Rowell Heating & Air, LLC

Congratulations to our Classroom Hero, the winner of our Teacher Appreciation Giveaway! We surprised Christy Palmer, a first grade teacher at Waynesboro Elementary, today with a $250 Amazon gift card.

Here are a few snippets from her nominations:

📚 Raising the Bar for Literacy!
What an incredible day we had last week! On May 6th, we gathered to celebrate the amazing progress of our READ Georgia participants and the dedicated volunteers from Mission Georgia from the First Baptist Church here in Waynesboro .

This partnership has been a true game-changer for our students. By focusing on building strong reading support, we’ve seen firsthand how much progress can be made when a community comes together with a shared goal.

To our Students: Your hard work and dedication to improving your reading skills inspire us every day. Congratulations on your achievements! 🎓

To our Mission Georgia Volunteers: Thank you for your time, your heart, and your commitment to our youth. We couldn't do this without you.

To our Partners: We are so thankful for this collaboration. Together, we are raising the bar for literacy in our community.

A special thanks to Mrs. Lairscy, our second grade teacher who helped coordinate this wonderful program.

We are already looking forward to next year and seeing these bright minds continue to grow. Let’s keep this momentum going! 📖💪

Good evening WPS 2nd Grade Families,

We are excited to share that tomorrow’s weather is looking much more promising, and we are planning to move forward with our 2nd Grade Safety Around Water Pool Event as scheduled!

Please make sure your child brings:
• 1 towel
• Sunscreen (if needed)
• A bathing suit (students will change into their suit at school)

Please note:
• Floatable arms will not be permitted
• Life jackets will be available for students

Thank you for your patience and flexibility as we monitored the weather conditions. We are looking forward to a fun and meaningful experience for our students. 💙
