Local THP Assists with Ice Storm cleanup

The local Tennessee Highway Patrol decided to give back to the community and assist with clean-up after Wayne County’s most devastating ice storm in decades.

Lt. Michael Edwards, Lt. Eddie Nutt, Sgt. Andy Webb and Trooper Jacob Davis identified several elderly couples who were in need of tree and debris cleanup but couldn’t afford or physically do it themselves.

After cutting up the limbs, logs, and tree branches, they piled them up near the road, mowed and mulched the remains, and the City of Waynesboro Maintenance crew came and hauled it all away. Within a few hours, it was as if nothing had happened.

While some citizens think the Tennessee Highway Patrol only writes speeding tickets and makes arrests, they also regularly conduct community projects that go unnoticed.
