Yesterday, E24-1, along with mutual aid units, responded to a controlled burn that got a little out of control. A friendly reminder that the wind at any time can make your controlled burn bigger than you had intended. Keep an eye on the weather conditions (wind & dryness) during your burn period. Give a courtesy phone call to Franklin County 911 on their non-emergency number to have your controlled burn logged. This will also notify the fire department when you call them.

This week is Safety Stand Down Week for the fire service!!! The topic this year is firefighter fitness. We are very fortunate to have a great partnership with WBO in Waynesboro that allows us to come work out while on duty and off duty!! Firefighters must remain in shape to withstand the rigors of emergency responses under any condition and in any weather situation. Cardiac arrest remains one of the highest killers of firefighters annually in the fire service.

📅 is here – and this year, the focus is on fire fighter fitness.

Fitness isn't just about performance on the fire ground. It's about protecting your health, your career, and your future.

Today’s crew is standing by at the Waynesboro YMCA’s sprint triathlon. It’s an absolutely beautiful morning for a swim, bike, and run. We’re always happy to come out to engage the community at different events while also being an EMS resource if needed.

We were honored to have Chief Dan Shaw-Ret Fairfax Co & Captain Doug Mitchell-FDNY come to Waynesboro to present “25 to Survive” this morning. Lots of great information for all who attended to take with them. Also, a big thank you to all who helped sponsor this event to allow Chief Griffin to bring in today’s speakers.

265 total runs thus far on the year. A few less than this time last year which is good news for the community which leaves more time for training and preparations for when the run does come in. Our firefighters log hundreds of hours training each month working hard living up to our Chief’s Montra of “Making Today’s Firefighters Better for Tomorrow than we were Yesterday”

Rarely do community events for our crews have a bigger impact on the guys participating than the community we are there to interact with, but last night was one of those times. We were honored to partner with 3 other fire-rescue & law enforcement agencies for the First Responder Appreciation Night held by Pen Mar Youth League. Each of our firefighters were partnered up with one of the players for warmups & the duration of their game. It was a great experience that had a tremendous impact on the crew. We only hope it had as much of an impact on the players we got to share our time with. Thank you!!!

FAO Robert Atkinson doing what he does best (besides being a great FAO), doing public education opportunities for the community. If your group or organization (no matter the age) would like a tour of the station or a visit from the firehouse, reach out to us and get it scheduled. We’d be more than happy to accommodate you.

Box alarm bells rang last night for smoke in the residence. E24-1 arrived first due for the Washington Twp box securing their own hydrant. The engine crew worked inside with Captain 2 to investigate the cause. Chief 2 had command of the box.
