What a beautiful day for Cruisin' the Main Car and Truck Show! A huge thank you to Mainstreet Waynesboro, Inc. for making it all happen. This year's Mayor's Choice Award went to Bob Baker, whose stunning 1971 Volkswagen Beetle Convertible stopped everyone in their tracks. Bob purchased the car locally and poured incredible care into a meticulous restoration that truly shows. Congratulations, Bob โ€” it's a well-earned honor!

And as a personal highlight? Bob has generously agreed to be my ride in the annual Christmas parade this November. I can't think of a better way to cruise through the holidays than in this award-winning classic. Stay tuned!

Downtown Waynesboro just got a little more spectacular. ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ

Today, Borough staff and local artists Larry Selman and Greg Small worked to hang 107 banners along Main Street to commemorate America's 250th birthday. Thanks to the tireless work of Larry, Greg, and Andy Smetzer in securing sponsors, this remarkable display is now a reality.

We'd be hard-pressed to find another downtown in Pennsylvania โ€” or anywhere in the country โ€” with something quite like this.

When you get the chance, take a stroll down Main Street and take it all in. These banners weave together the history of Waynesboro and the story of America in a way that is genuinely one of a kind.

Art. Community pride. American history. All on one street.

As Motorcycle Safety Awareness Month comes to a close, let's carry that mindfulness with us into June and beyond. Whether you're on two wheels or four, a little extra awareness on the road goes a long way โ€” please stay safe out there.

This Memorial Day, we pause to honor the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our nation. Their courage and dedication will never be forgotten.

Join us in a moment of remembrance โ€” fly your flag, attend the ceremony downtown, or simply take a moment today to reflect on the freedom we enjoy because of their service.

Although the Memorial Day parade has been cancelled by the Combined Veterans Council due to impending weather, the ceremony has been moved indoors. It will be held at the Waynesboro American Legion, 63 East Main St and will begin at 10:00 am on Monday, May 25.

Today, May 15th, we observe Peace Officers Memorial Day โ€” an annual tribute to the federal, state, and local law enforcement officers across our nation who have made the ultimate sacrifice or been disabled in the line of duty.

The Borough of Waynesboro knows this sacrifice personally. Officer William Daywalt and Officer Robert Flenner gave their lives protecting the citizens of this community, and their courage and dedication will never be forgotten. I thank all who serve in law enforcement and pray that God protects them.

On a lighter note, a heartfelt thank you goes out to LCBC Church for their generous show of support today. Pastor Tim Carver, his wife Alicia, and their beautiful daughter Susie brightened our morning by bringing food and coffee to our team โ€” a small gesture that meant a great deal.

Have you heard about the updates at the Northside Park Pool?

It feels like just yesterday that I was a lifeguard at Northside shortly after it opened in the 1970's.

The renovation of the pool is currently the biggest project underway in the borough. The work is progressing on schedule, and we are looking forward to a fantastic summer.

Here's to another summer of memories!
