Our K-9 units will be assisting the Pittsburgh Bureau of Police for the NFL draft next week. An MOU was signed by the Greene County Commissioners permitting us the ability to assist them. Pittsburgh Police K9 academy and Region 13 have played an essential part in our K9 program, providing our explosives K9, hosting the K9 academy and the monthly required trainings. We have called on Pittsburgh Police K9’s and Region 13 assets for assistance in Greene County previously and are pleased that we can assist them with their large scale event.

We have received multiple calls about a scam in our area. The scam states they are a Deputy Nathan Wager with the Greene County Sheriff’s Office and demanding money to avoid being arrested on a warrant.
They are currently using (724) 833-7120.

Please do not fall for this scam. Our office does not call and request money to clear warrants.

If you ever have concerns of the legitimacy of a call from our office, please hang up and call our office directly at (724) 852-5218 Monday through Friday. Thank you.

Yesterday, Cpl. Gustovich had the privilege of reading at Carmichaels Area School District for Read Across America. Students even got to meet a special guest, K9 Maugli.

These positive experiences with law enforcement help kids understand we are here to help if they ever need us and not to be afraid or intimidated.

Sheriff Simms and Deputy Campbell had the privilege of reading to Waynesburg Elementary School Mrs. Heathers first grade class today for Read Across America week. We all had a blast!!

It’s important to our office that children get to have these positive interactions with law enforcement so they feel safe in coming to us if they need help.

We would like to show appreciation to Protection4Paws. This organization donated a “Buddy Bag” containing medical supplies and a Pet Oxygen Mask. K9 Snoop and his handler, Deputy Strope, have peace of mind knowing they now have medical supplies in the event of an emergency. Deputy Strope has recently completed a Pet First Aid course hosted by the local CART team.

This program gets awareness information and materials into the hands of school aged children and senior citizens to warn them of many different risks and dangers.
