City of Wayzata (Local Government)

City of Wayzata (Local Government) Wayzata is a community on the shores of Lake Minnetonka, just west of Minneapolis. The 2010 census indicated a population of 3,688.

Since Wayzata was founded over 150 years ago, residents and visitors have spoken about the beauty of its setting. Located at the northeast tip of Lake Minnetonka, the community nestles around scenic Wayzata Bay and looks out over the long expanse of historic Lake Minnetonka, with its sparkling blue waters, wooded and meandering shoreline, islands and many secluded bays. Wayzata, which lies about 1

2 miles west of downtown Minneapolis, is not a large community. But the city is the center of a sizable and growing trade area of some 30,000 people, which includes the lakeshore communities to the west and part of the cities of Plymouth on the north and Minnetonka to the east. Wayzata has provided this area with a retail center that features dozens of high-quality specialty shops and many other fine businesses located along the lakefront in a half-dozen shopping centers and elsewhere in the city. This retail hub remains strong, and Wayzata has recently added another facet to it's character - that of an area financial and office center. This is the official City of Wayzata's page. 📣🚧Buckle up for June Highway 12 closures:

➡️June 1 to 15: Hwy 12 will be reduced to one lane in both directions between Carlson Pkwy. and Gleason Lake Rd. (Co. Rd. 15).

➡️ June 4 through early July: The Gleason Lake Rd. (Co. Rd. 15) entrance ramp to eastbound Hwy 12 will be closed. The detour is westbound Wayzata Blvd. to northbound Central Ave. (Co. Rd. 101) to eastbound Hwy 12.

➡️June 10 to 17: The westbound I-394 entrance to northbound I-494 will be closed. The detour for this closure is to “run the loops” — exit for the southbound I-494 loop, then to the eastbound I-394 loop, and then onto the northbound I-494 loop.

📣🐶Heading out for a sunny walk with your favorite pup? Remember these pawsitively important reasons to clean up after your dog:

➡️ Dog waste can contain E. Coli, Giardia, and other germs that can make people and pets sick. During rain or snow melt, pet waste left on yards or sidewalks can wash into storm sewers, streams, lakes, and wetlands, contaminating surface water. It also adds nitrogen, which reduces oxygen available in the water for fish and other animals.

➡️ No one likes to step in pet waste. Your neighbors appreciate your good manners.

➡️ It’s the law. Section 702 of the Wayzata City Code requires proper disposal of animal f***s in a sanitary manner (in a garbage receptacle). Improper disposal is considered an illicit discharge, or illegal dumping.

Thank you for keeping our spaces and our water safe this summer and all year!
