♻️✨ Help Us Keep Our Transfer Station Clean & Safe ✨♻️

We’d like to recognize the recent efforts that have gone into cleaning up and improving the transfer station. A lot of hard work has been put into making the facility cleaner, more organized, and more presentable for everyone in the community. These improvements help create a safer and more efficient space for both staff and the public.

To help maintain this progress, we kindly ask everyone using the metal recycling bin to please follow the posted guidelines. The prohibited items listed on the signs are not accepted and should not be placed in the bin.

⚠️ Propane tanks and batteries continue to be the biggest issues. These items create safety concerns and, when placed in the wrong location, lead to fines and extra disposal fees that take away from recycling revenues used to support the facility.

📍 If you are unsure where an item belongs, please ask an attendant for assistance and take a moment to check the signs posted throughout the facility for proper disposal instructions.

Thank you to everyone doing their part to help keep the transfer station clean, safe, and running smoothly for our whole community!

🚧 Mud Season & Road Posting in Weare 🚧

As spring approaches, mud season is right around the corner. As frost begins to come out of the ground, many of our gravel and secondary roads become soft and vulnerable to damage. To protect these roads, the Weare Highway Department will begin seasonal road postings on March 9, 2026.

During this period, certain roads will be posted with a 6-ton weight limit to help prevent significant damage while the ground is thawing.

These seasonal weight restrictions are authorized under New Hampshire RSA 231:191 and New Hampshire RSA 231:192, which allow towns to temporarily limit vehicle weights during the spring thaw.

During this time:
• Certain roads will be posted with a 6-ton weight limit
• Heavy trucks and loads may require a waiver or special permission from the Highway Department
• Vehicles exceeding posted limits may be subject to fines and liability for road damage

⚠️ Typical exemptions during road postings may include:
• Emergency vehicles (fire, police, ambulance)
• School buses
• Municipal and utility vehicles performing essential services
• Home heating fuel deliveries (oil, propane, pellets, etc.)
• Residential septic pumping
• Agricultural operations
• Solid waste and recycling collection
• Other deliveries or services approved through a road posting waiver

📄 For more information, including the list of posted roads and how to apply for a waiver, please visit the Town of Weare website.

Mud season restrictions help us protect our roads and reduce costly repairs for taxpayers. We appreciate everyone’s cooperation during the spring thaw.

If you have questions, please contact the Weare Highway Department.

Thank you for helping us take care of Weare’s roads! 🚜

❄️ Storm Update from the Weare Highway Department ❄️

We’re wrapping up a very successful storm response tonight! The crew worked hard all day keeping roads clear and safe, and we’re happy to report we had only a few minor breakdowns.

Our team is heading home to get some well-deserved rest, but we’ll be back first thing in the morning to take care of any snow drifts and trouble spots that may develop overnight. With the wind still moving things around, some areas may need a little extra attention at daylight.

Thank you to our residents for your patience and for staying off the roads while we worked. It makes a big difference and helps us do our job safely and efficiently.

We’ll see you bright and early! Stay safe and have a good night, Weare! ❄️

🌨️❄️ Storm Update – Weare Highway Department ❄️🌨️

Good news — this storm is shaping up to be less intense than originally forecasted. While we will still see accumulating snow, snowfall rates are expected to be lighter than earlier predictions.

Our crew will continue to be out monitoring conditions and plowing to keep roads in tge best shape possible. With lighter snowfall rates, it will be easier to stay ahead of it, but please remember that roads will still be snow covered and slippery for most of the day untill the snow stops.

As always:
• Slow down and allow extra stopping distance.
• Plan a little extra time for travel, especially during peak hours.

We appreciate everyone’s patience and cooperation. Stay safe, Weare! ❄️

🚨❄️ Winter Storm Update – Weare Highway Department ❄️🚨

We are expecting a significant winter storm that will impact the Monday morning commute. Snow is forecasted to fall at rates of 1–2 inches per hour at times, which makes it very challenging for our crews to keep up.

Our team will be out as soon as the snow begins and will remain out for the duration of the storm, going round after round on Town roads to try and stay ahead of the snowfall.

Please keep in mind:

• With snowfall rates that heavy, roads will snow cover quickly after being plowed.
• A full round of plowing all Town roads (tar and gravel) takes approximately 3–5 hours.
• During intense snowfall, by the time one route is completed, the starting point may already need attention again.

We ask everyone to plan ahead, allow extra travel time Monday morning, and consider delaying travel if possible during the heaviest part of the storm.

As always, please give plow trucks plenty of room to operate — they need space to safely do their job, and following too closely makes it harder for us to clear effectively.

We appreciate everyone’s patience while our crew works hard to keep Weare’s roads as safe as possible. Stay safe out there! ❄️

🚛 Attention Commercial Haulers & Weare Residents ♻️

The Town of Weare Transfer Station now requires an Annual Commercial Hauler Agreement for any hauler disposing of residential waste collected within the Town of Weare.

This helps us:
✔️ Ensure waste is generated within the Town of Weare only
✔️ Maintain proper recycling separation
✔️ Stay compliant with Town ordinances and state regulations
✔️ Keep the Transfer Station running efficiently for our residents

🔹 All recyclable materials must be properly sorted.
🔹 Mixed or improperly sorted loads may be refused or subject to additional fees.
🔹 Prohibited wastes are not accepted.
🔹 Special waste must be separated and disposed of properly in accordance with Town ordinances (fees may apply).

This program keeps things fair for Weare residents and helps protect our local solid waste and recycling program.

If you have questions or need to obtain an agreement, please contact Weare DPW or Weare Transfer Station Staff.

Thank you to our local haulers and residents for your continued cooperation and support! ♻️
