Lithium batteries do NOT belong in your trash OR recycle cart.

When crushed or damaged inside a garbage or recycling truck, lithium batteries can spark and start a fire.

Before you toss a battery:

• Power tool/rechargeable battery = Take it to a battery recycling location

• AA or AAA = Check the label

• Says “lithium” or “rechargeable” = Take it to a battery recycling location

⚠️ Do not place batteries in your recycle cart. Batteries need to be taken to an approved drop-off location for proper recycling.

Batteries Plus Bulbs in Weatherford accepts batteries.

If you’ve noticed more smoke and haze around Weatherford today, it’s coming from the Ross Fire in Palo Pinto and Jack counties.

A shift in the winds is pushing smoke into our area and causing some of it to settle closer to the ground, so it may be more noticeable than it has been.

It’s also going to be another very hot and dry day, with temperatures around 103°F, so fire conditions remain a concern across the region.

If you see general smoke or haze, it’s likely from the Ross Fire. But if you see flames or smoke that looks like it’s coming from somewhere nearby, call 911 and give the exact location.

Please avoid anything that could create a spark, and keep an eye on changing weather conditions.

We’re thinking of the firefighters and communities dealing with the Ross Fire. Stay safe, Weatherford!

We’ve heard your questions about Flock cameras, and we want to make our position clear:

The City of Weatherford does not have a contract with Flock Safety and does not own or operate a tracking network of permanently mounted cameras. We understand the concerns surrounding privacy, data sharing, and surveillance.

While some cameras may be located within the city limits, they are on private or non-City property and are operated independently by those property owners or organizations.

As technology evolves, the City will continue evaluating new technology based on our community’s needs, privacy, effectiveness, cost, and overall public benefit.

Meet our newest maintenance crew!

These four-legged contractors are great at clearing brush on steep, rocky slopes where traditional mowing equipment just can’t go. They're low-impact, efficient, and 100% adorable.

If you happen to spot them, please admire from afar and give them plenty of space, they’re on the clock!
