Four-Alarm Brush Fire Following MVC
Just before 3:00 p.m. this afternoon, Parker County ESD 6 responded to a reported motor vehicle collision in the 10,000 block of Granbury Highway.
Additional information provided to responding units indicated the incident was a single-vehicle crash involving a motorcycle. The motorcycle subsequently ignited a grass fire that quickly spread from the highway shoulder onto an adjoining heavily wooded property.
First-arriving crews encountered an aggressive fire with flames reaching more than 20 feet into the air as multiple trees became involved. With extreme outdoor temperatures, dry conditions, difficult access, and multiple structures threatened, the incident ultimately escalated to a four-alarm response.
Through the coordinated efforts of numerous agencies, firefighters were able to contain the fire and protect the threatened properties. Thankfully, no structures were lost.
The motorcycle operator was transported from the scene by Parker County Hospital District EMS.
