🚔💙 Introducing the Blue Envelope Program 💙🚔

The Weatherford Police Department is proud to support the Blue Envelope Program, a voluntary tool created to improve communication and safety during traffic stops for drivers who may have difficulty communicating.

A blue envelope can discreetly alert officers that a driver may have a communication barrier, allowing for patience, understanding, and modified interaction techniques that help keep everyone safe.

đź’™This program may benefit individuals who:
- Deaf or hard of hearing
- Blind or have low vision
- Learning English
- Have autism, ADHD, PTSD, anxiety, dementia, or other neurodevelopment conditions
- Experiencing speech difficulties or involuntary movements
- And others with communication-related challenges

đź“„ What goes inside the envelope?
- Driver’s License
- Vehicle Registration
- Proof of Insurance
- Emergency Contact Information (optional)

📍Where to Get a Blue Envelope:
- Weatherford Police Department
- Weatherford City Hall
- Pioneer Senior Center
- Weatherford Chamber of Commerce
- SWOSU Campus Police
- YMCA Weatherford

⚠️ Important to Know:
The Blue Envelope Program does not provide legal immunity, prevent enforcement action, replace officer safety procedures, or serve as proof of disability. It is simply a communication aid designed to create safer, smoother interactions.

🤝 Our goal is to strengthen understanding, reduce stress, and promote positive encounters between our officers and the community.

For more information or to request a Blue Envelope, please contact the Weatherford Police Department.

To Our Dispatchers,

In recognition of National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week, I would like to take this opportunity to extend my sincere appreciation to each of you for the outstanding work you perform every day.

Your role is critical to the success of our public safety operations. You are the calm voice in the moments of crisis, the vital link between citizens and first responders, and the steady presence behind every call for service. The professionalism, dedication, and composure you demonstrate—often under significant pressure—do not go unnoticed.

Throughout this past year, you have consistently gone above and beyond in serving the City of Weatherford, as well as the citizens of Blaine and Custer Counties. Your commitment to excellence ensures that our officers, firefighters, and emergency personnel are able to respond effectively and safely. More importantly, your efforts directly contribute to the safety and well-being of the communities we serve.

Please know that your hard work, long hours, and unwavering dedication are deeply valued and greatly appreciated. We are fortunate to have such a skilled and committed team representing our department.

Thank you for all that you do, today and every day.

Sincerely,

Angelo Orefice, Chief of Police

After months of very serious planning, design meetings, and a few too many cans of Red Bull… we are proud to officially unveil our brand new department patch!

This bold new design represents the future of policing in Weatherford. Officers will begin wearing the new patch immediately, and yes it’s reflective and glow-in-the-dark.

Happy April Fools’ Weatherford!

We’ve partnered with Southwestern Oklahoma Development Authority (SWODA) and Oklahoma Medical Ma*****na Authority (OMMA) to provide free medication lock boxes to our residents. Each lock box comes with informational material and two drug deactivation & disposal kits.

From 2017-2021, more than 3,500 Oklahomans died of an unintentional drug overdose. Secure storage of medications diminishes opportunities for easy access and are the most effective deterrents to accidental poisonings, overdose, theft and misuse.

Please also be aware of Naloxone (Narcan) vending machines at the Weatherford Regional Hospital and at BG’s Convenience Store.

🚨🚨 FRAUD ALERT 🚨🚨

The Weatherford Police Department and the City of Weatherford Municipal Court have received multiple complaints regarding suspicious text messages being sent to residents.

One message involves tree trimming services, where individuals claim they will be in the area and encourage recipients to call or text if they want trees cut or trimmed. Residents are advised not to respond to unsolicited messages of this nature. If you need these services, please contact a reputable company directly.

Additionally, there have been reports of text messages referencing “outstanding traffic citation payments.” Please be advised that the City of Weatherford Municipal Court does not send text messages requesting payment for fines or fees, and the City of Weatherford does not request payments for any city services via text message.

These are just two examples of fraudulent messages currently circulating. Residents are encouraged to remain vigilant. If you are unsure about the legitimacy of any message, contact the City of Weatherford directly before making any payments. This precaution is also recommended when dealing with most state or government-related entities.

If you have questions or concerns, please contact the Weatherford Police Department non-emergency line at (580) 772-7791.

Fatality Accident

On March 17, 2026, at approximately 8:44 p.m., the Weatherford Police Department received information from the Oklahoma Highway Patrol (OHP) regarding a reckless driver traveling westbound on Interstate 40 near mile marker 88. The vehicle was described as a black SUV.

The vehicle was later observed exiting Interstate 40. According to a witness, the driver intentionally struck a semi-truck that was unloading fuel at the Domino’s gas station/convenience store in Weatherford. Within minutes, the vehicle crashed in the 800 block of West Main Street.

Emergency personnel responded and transported the sole occupant, an adult female, to Weatherford Regional Hospital. Despite life-saving efforts, the victim succumbed to her injuries and was later pronounced deceased.

The victim has been identified as 64-year-old Ericka Goodlin of Glendora, California.

The Weatherford Police Department extends its condolences to the family, friends, and loved ones of Ericka Goodlin during this difficult time.

The accident is under investigation.
