the community where Police Officers and Citizens work together to solve
common problems and enhance the quality of life in our City. We care about
the people and communities we serve and we are proud of the Department
and the services we provide. These are not just words to us.

The Weaver High School cheerleaders have officially made their final move in the Homecoming prank war: covering a poor, innocent uniformed lieutenant in silly string while he was working security at the football game. 🙄

After careful consideration—and because it is important to let young people experience success every once in a while—I am gracefully declaring the students the winners. 😬

Congratulations. Enjoy it. Take pictures. Frame the moment. It may be a while before you get another win over people with radios, cameras, patience, and considerably more experience.

In all seriousness, this week came with a few valuable life lessons:
• Never underestimate a group of students with school spirit, teamwork, and access to party supplies.
• If you start a prank war, be prepared for the other side to have more time, more creativity, and fewer concerns about being grounded.
• Good planning matters—but sometimes silly string wins anyway.
• It is okay to laugh at yourself, especially when the whole stadium is watching.
• The best part of Homecoming is not winning a prank war. It is making memories, showing school pride, and being part of a community that can have fun together.

To every student involved: you got me this time. I am proud of your creativity, your spirit, and your ability to coordinate a successful operation under pressure. I may need to hire a couple of you in a few years!More importantly, please know that I love and care about each and every one of you. I want you safe, successful, and able to look back on high school knowing you had people in your corner—even when you were launching silly string at them.

Homecoming Week update: the students who thought they had successfully “rolled” the Weaver Police Department may have just received an advanced lesson in consequences.
While they were safely inside school expanding their minds with important subjects like math, science, and history, we were outside conducting a practical field exercise in covert vehicle-access skills, “air bag safety device”-placement strategy, and superior decision-making.
Let’s just say their vehicles now have a little more… personality.

We are proud to report that Weaver Police Department officers remain undefeated in the categories of experience, patience, and knowing how to one-up a prank without needing to leave a name, a note, or a camera appearance behind.

A word of friendly advice to our aspiring prank professionals: if you are going to challenge older, wiser people who have access to cameras, radios, and a considerable network of, well, let’s call them “informants”, you should probably bring your A game.
So far, the score remains:
Students: Toilet paper. Boring. Uninspired.

Weaver Police Department: Aerostats, strategy, and possibly an unexpected sparkle-related surprise. (Wouldn’t it be terrible if those balloons popped inside your car and they were filled with glitter…………….) 🤔

Remember: Alabama law prohibits distracted driving. We are not attorneys, but we do have one important question—if your car is full of balloons, and you decide to start popping them while driving, would that count as distracted driving?

Please drive safely. And, for the love of all things Homecoming, maybe clean out the balloons before putting the car in gear. 🚔🎈😬

This evening starting at 6. Parade begins from the city park parking lot and will travel to Weaver elementary school. The bon fire will follow at the conclusion of the parade.

EDIT: The roads will be cleared of all traffic and shut down about 5 minutes before the parade begins and will be reopened as soon as safely possible , after the last float clears the parade route. We anticipate the affected roads being closed for approximately 20-25 minutes.

Apparently, it’s Homecoming Week, and Weaver High School students decided the Police Department needed a little extra school spirit.

We appreciate the effort—but a few notes for next year:

1. Rolling a police car is apparently harder than it looks.

2. Doing it directly in front of cameras is an interesting strategy.

3. Leaving evidence behind is not considered “school spirit”.

We admire the enthusiasm, but the ex*****on received a solid **“needs improvement.”** If you’re going to pull a prank, at least make it worthy of the effort it takes to remove all that paper.

To the students involved: congratulations—you may have earned the distinction of being the first Homecoming prank captured in high-definition, multiple angles, with excellent lighting.

Oh that patrol car you see behind you tomorrow? Pay no attention………. til the blue lights come on……..

Our department is excited to support the Calhoun County Blue Line Foundation’s Touch-a-Truck event on Saturday, September 12, from 1–4 PM at Anniston Regional Airport.
Bring the kids out to explore emergency vehicles, meet local first responders, and enjoy an afternoon of community fun. This is a great opportunity for families to get an up-close look at the vehicles and equipment used by the agencies serving our communities.

September 2, 2026 - Earlier today the Weaver Police Department was dispatched to the Buckhorn neighborhood for a report of a missing male juvenile. Weaver Police and Fire immediately began conducting a search and requested assistance from other agencies. Weaver Police also deployed our drone to assist in searching from the sky. During that search the juvenile was located safe and returned home.

We would like to thank the Jacksonville Police department for their assistance with their drone, Anniston Police Department, Oxford Police Department Aviation Unit, Weaver Fire Department, and the Calhoun County Sheriff's Office. Working as a team enabled us to cover a lot more ground faster.

The Weaver Police Department is currently searching the Buckhorn area for a missing 12-year-old child. Oxford Police Department has sent their helicopter crew to aid with the search and may be seen flying over the area. The child was last seen in the 600 block of Andrew Dr in Buckhorn. He is described as this:

12 years old
Approximately 5'00" tall
Approximately 65 lbs
Male
Blonde hair
Blue Eyes
Wearing a green hoodie, black pants, bright fluorescent yellow shoes

🚔 WEAVER POLICE DEPARTMENT IS HIRING! 🚔

The Weaver Police Department is now accepting applications for Police Officer positions.

📅 Application Period: August 14–28, 2026
💰 Pay Range: $43,035.20–$62,899.20 annually
Pay is negotiable based on experience. Academy graduates will be looked at first.
Open to non-academy graduates.

HOW TO APPLY

Applications may be:
•Picked up in person at the Weaver Police Department
•Requested by email at [email protected]
Applications must be received by August 28, 2026, to participate in the upcoming Civil Service examination.

CIVIL SERVICE EXAM

The first step in the hiring process is submitting an application and completing the written examination administered through the Civil Service Board.

Weaver First Day Back to School

Good Afternoon!

The Weaver school system starts back up tomorrow 8/6/26, and we wanted to remind everyone to pay close attention as many students will be on the side of the road in the mornings as they wait for the school bus. Remember to give yourself a little extra time to get to where you’re going in case you get caught behind a bus. It is still against the law to pass a school bus with flashing red lights, even if you’re late for work. Our children’s safety is more important.

For parents driving their children to the elementary school, remember that the morning and afternoon drop offs have changed. Please do not block any driveways or intersections, particularly on Clairmont Dr. as you wait your turn to enter the high school and at Astor Ave as you wait to pull into the new morning entrance for the elementary school.

You may notice new “Do Not Enter” signs on School Drive at the elementary school. “Do Not Enter” only applies during morning drop off time when School Drive will be utilized as a two lane exit only roadway. Once the school day begins, that road transitions back to a typical entry/ exit roadway.

There may be some problems that arise from the new traffic patterns and there may be delays, just stay calm and remember that everyone is working to get your children safely to the school.
