September 2, 2026 - Earlier today the Weaver Police Department was dispatched to the Buckhorn neighborhood for a report of a missing male juvenile. Weaver Police and Fire immediately began conducting a search and requested assistance from other agencies. Weaver Police also deployed our drone to assist in searching from the sky. During that search the juvenile was located safe and returned home.

We would like to thank the Jacksonville Police department for their assistance with their drone, Anniston Police Department, Oxford Police Department Aviation Unit, Weaver Fire Department, and the Calhoun County Sheriff's Office. Working as a team enabled us to cover a lot more ground faster.

UPDATE: 9/2/26 11:08am - CHILD HAS BEEN FOUND SAFE

The Weaver Police Department is currently searching the Buckhorn area for a missing 12-year-old child. Oxford Police Department has sent their helicopter crew to aid with the search and may be seen flying over the area. The child was last seen in the 600 block of Andrew Dr in Buckhorn. He is described as this:

12 years old
Approximately 5'00" tall
Approximately 65 lbs
Male
Blonde hair
Blue Eyes
Wearing a green hoodie, black pants, bright fluorescent yellow shoes

🚔 WEAVER POLICE DEPARTMENT IS HIRING! 🚔

The Weaver Police Department is now accepting applications for Police Officer positions.

📅 Application Period: August 14–28, 2026
💰 Pay Range: $43,035.20–$62,899.20 annually
Pay is negotiable based on experience. Academy graduates will be looked at first.
Open to non-academy graduates.

HOW TO APPLY

Applications may be:
•Picked up in person at the Weaver Police Department
•Requested by email at [email protected]
Applications must be received by August 28, 2026, to participate in the upcoming Civil Service examination.

CIVIL SERVICE EXAM

The first step in the hiring process is submitting an application and completing the written examination administered through the Civil Service Board.

Weaver First Day Back to School

Good Afternoon!

The Weaver school system starts back up tomorrow 8/6/26, and we wanted to remind everyone to pay close attention as many students will be on the side of the road in the mornings as they wait for the school bus. Remember to give yourself a little extra time to get to where you’re going in case you get caught behind a bus. It is still against the law to pass a school bus with flashing red lights, even if you’re late for work. Our children’s safety is more important.

For parents driving their children to the elementary school, remember that the morning and afternoon drop offs have changed. Please do not block any driveways or intersections, particularly on Clairmont Dr. as you wait your turn to enter the high school and at Astor Ave as you wait to pull into the new morning entrance for the elementary school.

You may notice new “Do Not Enter” signs on School Drive at the elementary school. “Do Not Enter” only applies during morning drop off time when School Drive will be utilized as a two lane exit only roadway. Once the school day begins, that road transitions back to a typical entry/ exit roadway.

There may be some problems that arise from the new traffic patterns and there may be delays, just stay calm and remember that everyone is working to get your children safely to the school.

Mark your calendars! The 3rd Annual Battle of the Badges Chili Cook-Off is coming to the Oxford Civic Center on Saturday, August 8, from 1:00–4:00 PM.

Come sample chili prepared by local police and fire departments, vote in the People's Choice competition, enjoy family-friendly activities, and support the Calhoun County Blue Line Foundation. This event helps support law enforcement agencies throughout Calhoun County while bringing our community together for an afternoon of fun and friendly competition. Admission includes one sample from each chili entry.

🎆 FOURTH OF JULY WEEKEND SAFETY REMINDER FROM THE WEAVER POLICE DEPARTMENT 🇺🇸

As we celebrate Independence Day with family, friends, and fireworks, the Weaver Police Department would like to remind everyone to make safety a priority so everyone can enjoy a fun and memorable holiday.

🎇 Fireworks Safety

Only use fireworks that are legal in Alabama and follow all manufacturer instructions.
Keep a bucket of water or a garden hose nearby in case of fire.
Never allow young children to handle or ignite fireworks.
Never relight a firework that fails to ignite.
Light one firework at a time and move away quickly.

🔥 Fire Danger

With hot temperatures and dry conditions, even a small spark can quickly become a fire.

Never shoot fireworks near dry grass, wooded areas, or structures.
Dispose of used fireworks by soaking them in water before placing them in the trash.
If you notice a fire, call 911 (tel:911) immediately.

🐾 Remember Your Pets

Fireworks can be frightening for our four-legged family members.

Keep pets indoors in a secure, comfortable place.
Make sure they have identification tags or are microchipped in case they become frightened and escape.
Close windows and curtains, and consider using a TV, fan, or music to help mask loud noises.
Never bring pets to areas where fireworks are being used.

❤️ Respect Your Neighbors

Everyone celebrates differently.

Be mindful of your neighbors, especially veterans, young children, older adults, and individuals with sensory sensitivities.
Celebrate responsibly and avoid setting off fireworks late into the night.
Clean up any debris left behind to help keep our community beautiful.

🚔 Celebrate Responsibly

If your plans include alcohol, please designate a sober driver, use a rideshare service, or make arrangements to stay where you are. Never drive impaired.

Today, we recognize all fathers, especially the dads who serve their communities while balancing the responsibilities of family life.
To the fathers wearing a badge, working long shifts, missing holidays, and making sacrifices to keep others safe—thank you.
We also honor the fathers, grandfathers, stepfathers, and mentors who help guide the next generation through strength, patience, and example.

⚠️ TRAFFIC ADVISORY – WEAVER POLICE DEPARTMENT ⚠️

We are currently experiencing widespread storm damage throughout the area, including numerous trees and power lines down across roadways.

The Weaver Police Department, Weaver Fire Department, and Alabama Power crews are actively working to clear roads and restore safe conditions as quickly as possible.

For your safety, please stay off the roadways unless travel is absolutely necessary. Conditions remain hazardous, and additional trees or debris could fall without warning.

If you encounter a blocked roadway, DO NOT attempt to drive around barricades, cones, emergency vehicles, or downed trees. Turn around and find an alternate route. What may appear passable could conceal downed power lines, unstable trees, or other dangerous conditions.

We appreciate your patience and cooperation as crews work throughout the community. Please continue to monitor local updates and use caution if you must travel.
