📣 NEW DATE: Trinity County Fair Community Meeting

The Trinity County Fair Association Community Meeting, previously postponed, has been rescheduled for Thursday, September 3 at 6:30 p.m. in the Fair Dining Hall at the Trinity County Fairgrounds in Hayfork.

Community members, business owners, families and local organizations are encouraged to attend and be part of an important conversation about the future and sustainability of the Trinity County Fair.

The Fair Association Board will provide an update on the Fair’s financial outlook and discuss efforts to build a sustainable path forward. Topics will include:

The Fair’s current financial position, funding and operating expenses
Cost-saving measures and revenue strategies already underway
The impact on Fair Week and year-round events
New ideas and opportunities for the Fair’s future
An open forum for community questions, ideas and input

Trinity County Earns Prohousing Designation and Secures Prohousing Incentive Program (PIP) Funding

WEAVERVILLE, CA (August 24, 2026) — Trinity County has officially earned the State of California’s coveted Prohousing Designation and secured state funding through the Prohousing Incentive Program (PIP). The award is part of an $11.3 million state allocation announced by Governor Gavin Newsom and administered by the California Department of Housing and Community Development (HCD) to support 13 prohousing communities statewide.

Here are 4 simple ways dads can bond with baby:

1. Make Time for Hugs & Cuddles: Human touch is soothing for both you and your baby. Try skin-to-skin contact by letting baby rest on your chest while relaxing at home.
2. Routinely Care for Baby: Soothe, bathe, change, dress, and burp your baby. Keeping mom company during feeding sessions is also a great way to bond while supporting your partner.
3. Play Games: Make silly faces, play peek-a-boo, or sing songs! Setting aside regular play time builds a fun daily routine as your baby grows.
4. Talk & Sing: Keep your face close, hold eye contact, and talk or sing to your baby throughout the day.

COMMUNITY MEETING POSTPONED

The Trinity County Fair Association’s Community Meeting originally scheduled for Thursday, August 20, at the Trinity County Fairgrounds in Hayfork has been postponed due to circumstances beyond the Association’s control.

The Association remains committed to holding this important community conversation and providing an opportunity for residents, families, businesses and community organizations to learn more about the future of the Trinity County Fair and share their ideas for a sustainable path forward.

A new meeting date will be announced as soon as it is available.

We apologize for any inconvenience and appreciate the community’s understanding and continued support of the Trinity County Fair.

🚨 TRAFFIC ALERT THIS MORNING: One-way traffic control and heavy delays are now in effect along SR-299 near Whiskeytown for the Ironman 70.3 triathlon!

If you are traveling eastbound toward Redding this morning, please allow plenty of extra time or delay your trip if possible.

🛑 Active Highway Impacts:

🚘 SR-299 (Whiskeytown - Oak Bottom to Rock Creek Rd):
- Active 6:00 AM – 10:00 AM
- One-way traffic control in place. Expect delays up to 1 HOUR.

🚘 Redding Area (I-5, SR-44, East SR-299):
- Ramp closures and delays continuing through 1:00 PM.

If you are planning to travel through the Whiskeytown or Redding area tomorrow morning, Aug. 16, please plan ahead, expect delays, or consider delaying your trip until the afternoon.

🚗 What You Need to Know for Sunday Morning:

SR-299 at Whiskeytown (Oak Bottom to Rock Creek Rd):
- 6:00 AM – 10:00 AM: One-way traffic control.
- Expect delays of UP TO 1 HOUR.

Redding Area Highways (I-5, SR-44, East SR-299):
- Various ramp closures and one-way controls active between 7:00 AM and 1:00 PM.
