Today we pause to remember the heroes who never made it home.

The freedoms we enjoy, the communities we protect, and the lives we live each day were paid for by men and women willing to give everything for this country. Memorial Day is more than a long weekend, nice weather or grilling out with the family. It needs to be a solemn reminder that freedom comes at a cost.

The Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office asks everyone to take a moment today to honor the fallen, support the families they left behind, and never forget the sacrifices made on our behalf. Look at those American flags and then dwell on the freedoms we enjoy.

God bless the fallen. God bless their families. And God bless the United States of America.
