How are things in NE South Dakota, you may ask? Well, they are closed...........
The following CLOSURES are now in effect from the South Dakota Department of Transportation:
🛑HWY 25: From US 212 West to US 12-Webster - ROAD CLOSED due to an event and ENFORCED ROAD CLOSURE until further notice.
🛑HWY 25: From US 12-Webster to SD-10 East - ROAD CLOSED due to an event and ENFORCED ROAD CLOSURE until further notice;
🛑HWY 25: From SD-10 East to Veblen - ENFORCED ROAD CLOSURE and ROAD CLOSED due to an event until further notice;
🛑 HWY 25: From Veblen to North Dakota State Line - ROAD CLOSED ENFORCED ROAD CLOSURE due to an event until further notice.
🛑US HWY 12: From Summit to Aberdeen - ENFORCED ROAD CLOSURE and ROAD CLOSED due to an event until further notice.
⚠️Motorists should not use secondary highways and local roads to avoid an Interstate closure. Snow-packed and icy roads, along with blizzard-like conditions, will make travel very dangerous through the overnight and into Sunday, March 15, 2026.
⚠️Travel is becoming very hazardous, and help may not be able to reach you if you become stranded. It is best to please stay off the roads and stay safe!

⚠️DAY COUNTY WILL BE ISSUING A NO TRAVEL ADVISED AT 9PM SATURDAY, MARCH 14 ⚠️
If you are out on the roadways, now is the time to find a safe place to stay until this storm has passed!! The SD511 map is beginning to fill the roadways in with its pretty colors, advising motorists of the most up-to-date road conditions. This winter storm is going to be no joke, especially as the night rolls on!
**PLEASE NOTE THAT I-29 WILL BE CLOSING at 9PM from Watertown to the North Dakota border and between Brookings and Watertown at 10:30.
Prepare emergency supplies if travel becomes necessary. Conditions may cause roadways to be blown shut overnight due to drifting snow and zero visibility.
As conditions develop, decisions regarding road closures and travel advisories will be made with public safety as the top priority.
