THANK YOU for your support of our recent SUMMER GROCERY BAG distribution event. This event served 195 families who received a generous abundance of paper products, hygiene items, cleaning products, and even our traditional summer watermelon. We filled 250 bags and manned multiple other stations to distribute items that just didn’t fit in the bags!
These large collaborative events cannot happen without the support of the community. We would like to thank West Herr Ford of Webster for supplying watermelon to all of our families, The Village at Unity and The Hamlet Unity for supplying the dish soap and sponges, fairlife for the personal hygiene kits and Cornell Cooperative Extension of Monroe County for the toilet paper. This event was also sponsored by the Webster Food Insecurity Coalition so special thanks go to the Webster Central Schools for putting together amazing family size hygiene kits, the Webster Public Library for collecting toothbrushes and toothpaste and Gracepoint Global Methodist Church for collecting spray cleaner and cleaning wipes! Also, a huge thank you to our individual donors who donated grocery items for this event.
The Summer Grocery Bag giveaway is a response to increased food insecurity in our community. Our collaboration has now held eight events and we provided food and other needed items to 1,300+ families! Our plan is to have three events per year: Easter/Spring, Summer, and Thanksgiving.
Webster is truly a community that comes together in times of need and what a better reason to come together than to feed and serve our neighbors? Thank you for being a part of the solution and supporting our collaborative efforts.
