This morning six members of the Webster Fire Department joined countless other agencies in paying tribute to those lost on September 11, 2001 and in the years since. They climbed the equivalent of 110 stories, representing the height of the World Trade Center and the journey that so many set out to complete, but never had the chance to finish.

Please exercise caution when traveling through the area as there are still trees, branches, and downed power lines. Please respect barricades and cones as they are placed for your safety. And please do not drive through homeowners' lawns to try to get around them.

Tomorrow is the first day of school for Webster CSD students! That means our school buses will be on the roads transporting precious cargo. In New York State it's illegal to pass a school bus that is stopped with its red lights flashing. Please do your part and give them a brake!

This week our Monday night drill went to the dogs (and cats)! We were thrilled to welcome Dr. Sam Kalis and Dr. Erin Hamlin from Irondequoit Animal Hospital to learn about how we can help animals who are experiencing a medical emergency. Our EMS partners from Penfield Webster EMS joined us as we learned how to restrain animals who are stressed to keep them and ourselves safe. Our members learned how to help an animal who has an airway obstruction, how to administer oxygen, how to perform CPR on a pet, and a plethora of other skills. A special shout out to Bert, Ernie, and Liz for allowing us to practice on them. Extra treats and scritches all around!
