Today, I had the honor of marching in the Rochester Pride Parade.

It was impossible not to feel the joy, the resilience, and the overwhelming sense of community that filled every street. But beneath that celebration was something deeper—a reminder that Pride exists because generations of people fought to be seen, to be accepted, and to live openly without fear.

That reminder felt especially personal this year.

Just around a month ago, I had the privilege of raising the Pride flag at Webster Town Hall for the first time in our town’s history. Shortly afterward, the Town Board voted to have it removed.

For many, that vote wasn’t simply about a flag. It was about whether they felt their community saw them, valued them, and believed they belonged.

Today was a reminder that belonging isn’t something granted by a vote.

It’s found in every hand extended in friendship. Every family that shows up in support. Every ally who refuses to stay silent. Every person who chooses love over fear. And every member of the LGBTQ+ community who’s bravery inspires us all

As your Town Supervisor, I believe our responsibility is not simply to govern. It is to build a community where every resident knows they have value, where every young person can see a future for themselves, and where no one feels invisible because of who they are or who they love.

That is why I raised the Pride flag.

That is why I marched today.

And that is why I will continue to stand with those who too often have been told they don’t belong.

Because they do.

Today is the day, Village of Webster residents! 🗳️

The Webster Democratic Committee endorses Brian McGraw for Village Trustee. Look for his name on the Webster Neighbors line.
