🚨COMMUNITY ALERT🚨

The Lake Shastina Police Department is aware of multiple reports of overnight vehicle prowling incidents that occurred during the early morning hours of August 4, 2026.

Officers have responded to multiple reports from several areas throughout Lake Shastina. In each reported incident, the vehicles appear to have been left unlocked. The vehicles were rummaged through, with cash and other valuables reported stolen.

Our officers are actively investigating these incidents, collecting evidence, documenting reported losses, and reviewing any available surveillance footage that may assist in identifying those responsible.

We encourage all residents to:

• Lock your vehicle, even when it is parked in your driveway.

• Remove cash, wallets, keys, fi****ms, electronics, and other valuables from your vehicle.

• Review any home security or doorbell camera footage from the overnight hours and report anything suspicious.

• If you observe suspicious individuals checking vehicle door handles, contact the Lake Shastina Police Department or 911.

If you believe your vehicle was entered, even if nothing appears to be missing, we encourage you to inspect it carefully and report the incident.

If you have any information related to these incidents, or if you have surveillance footage from the overnight hours of August 4, please contact the Lake Shastina Police Department at (530) 938-4113.

🚲 COMMUNITY ASSISTANCE REQUEST 🚲

These bicycles are not in trouble, but we would like to speak with their riders.

On July 24, 2026, at approximately 6:00 p.m., two juveniles were seen near the Hoy Park restrooms. Security footage shows one of the juveniles throwing a metal dog dish at a park security camera and attempting to dislodge a metal trash can.

Vandalism was later discovered inside the men’s restroom. We believe they may have information relevant to the investigation and would like to speak with them and their parents or guardians.

If you recognize either bicycle or know who may have been riding them, please contact the Lake Shastina Police Department at 530-938-2226.

DO NOT identify any juveniles in the comments. Contact the department directly so the information can be handled appropriately.

Thank you, Lake Shastina!

Happy 4th of July from Lake Shastina!

Not all heroes wear capes. Some push golf carts.

Today, our Lake Shastina firefighters, with assistance from police, helped a disabled motorist get their golf cart safely back home. It was a small call, but a great reminder that community service comes in all forms.

Thank you to the Lake Shastina Fire Dept. for the assist, the teamwork, and the extra horsepower.

We hope everyone has a safe and happy Independence Day!😁
