City of Weed Fire Department The W**d Fire Department is located in Northern California just north of Mt. Shasta. The rest of the department are volunteers and live-in student firefighters.

The volunteer fire department is responsible for the prevention and suppression of land, vehicle and structural fires, and the response to requests for emergency medical aid and accidents. It is staffed by a Full time Fire Chief, Steve Duncan, and a Full, time Assistant Chief, Brian Carter, and one paid seasonal firefighter. The station houses two type one engines, and a type three engine and two command vehicles. We run around 700 calls per year 400 of them EMS calls.

On Tuesday, WFD Chief 1200 and Engine 1213 responded in automatic aid to the Springs Fire in the area of Highway 97 and Big Springs Road. The fire was held to just over a half an acre due to the efforts of many agencies including CAL FIRE SKU USFS Shasta Trinity NF Lake Shastina Fire and others. After returning from the Loomis Fire, Engine 1213 and Chief 1200 responded to the Brook Fire as part of Strike Team 3201C on Sunday with engines from FORT JONES FIRE DEPARTMENT Lake Shastina Fire Mount Shasta Fire Department and Scott Valley Fire. The strike team was released yesterday and all engines returned to their stations.

WFD Engine 1213 is assigned to the in Lassen Modoc as part of local government strike team 3200C with engines from Mount Shasta Fire Department Montague Fire Department Lake Shastina Fire McCloud Fire Department and our strike team leader from FORT JONES FIRE DEPARTMENT. E1213 arrived at scene on Saturday and went straight to work on the line.
