WPD would like to recognize one of our own, Jim Powers, who recently challenged the TCOLE licensing exam for law enforcement officers. As we shared earlier this month, he successfully passed the exam, and we are thrilled to officially promote him to Administrative Sergeant for the Weimar Police Department!

In his new role, Sgt. Powers will continue overseeing Animal Control and Code Enforcement while also taking on additional responsibilities involving the day-to-day operations of the department. His duties will include fleet management, PPE inventory oversight, and - the best part - stepping in as an additional patrol officer when needed.

Sgt. Powers dedicated nearly 30 years of service to the Gunnison, Colorado Police Department and brings a tremendous amount of experience, training, and law enforcement knowledge to WPD.

We are excited to see him step into this new role and proudly wear the WPD sergeant stripes. Please join us in congratulating Sgt. Powers on this well-deserved promotion!

Let’s just say… There weren't many leftovers, and the officers fully approved of the 'training samples.'
