The Weiner Lions Club met on Thursday, March 26th, 2026. There were 3 guest speakers and 2 new members recognized. Guest speakers were in order: Pam Hogue, WES Principal; Tommy Jacobs, Pastor of Weiner 1st Baptist Church; and then Cindy Needham and granddaughter, 10th grade Westside Schools student, Ella Henderson. Principal Pam Hogue spoke about school activities and also praised the volunteer hard work which has left the Weiner ballfield in awesome condition. Pastor Jacobs spoke about upcoming events sponsored by Trinity Baptist Association on May 2nd, 2026. This is referred to as TBA Day. Cindy and granddaughter, Ella Henderson spoke about Kingdom’s Closet. The idea of the Kingdom Closet originated with Ella Henderson. Kingdom’s Closet accepts slightly used closed and accessories of all sizes. Kingdom Closet will be open on May 2nd. More details to follow soon. Please contact Cindy Needham for more information. (870) 217-2777. New members sponsored by Leona Gardner were introduced. The Lions Club is pleased to announce that Melanie Condra and Donna Harrison are the newest members.

Valerie Dixon was the guest speaker at the March 26th meeting of the Weiner Lions Club. There will be a Weiner Alumni & Community ball game at the Weiner Ballpark on April 5th at 3:00 p.m. There is a drive to purchase a memorial plaque memorizing Eric Little. A tee-shirt will be available for purchase. A hundred dollars are being asked for to have your name or organization’s name to on the shirt. Any money over the cost of the memorial will go ballfield expenses. Please make check to WSCE (Weiner School Children Endowment). Valerie Dixon also announced that the Weiner STOP group will be awarding Debbie Jordan the Community Services Award. There will be a reward ceremony at the
1st Christian Church on Sunday April 26th at 3:00 p.m.

Don’t forget, Lions Club supper this Monday February 2nd at Weiner Cafeteria. Pickup/Carry out starts at 5 pm. Supper starts at 6 pm. Drawing shortly after. Hope to see everyone there.

Drive thru line, drive around the school by the city park, turn left on first street, go thru red gate and stop on west side of cafeteria. We will have runners bring food out to you.

***REMINDER***

Our steak supper and drawing is one week away. It is January 26th. If you have got gotten or paid for your ticket we will be trying to contact you this week to make sure you still want the ticket and to see if you will be paying at the door. We just need to make sure we sell all our tickets. All proceeds from this dinner are donated back into our community in various ways, scholarship, disaster relief, Arkansas rice festival, toys for tots, and many many more. Thank you for helping us give back!

Mary Reed, Weiner Lions’ Club “Tail Twister” LIONS INTERNATIONAL SAYS: “THE TAIL TWISTER” – The Tail Twister is an officer and the ‘pep master’ of his Lions Club. His duties are to instill enthusiasm and good fellowship in the meetings, and to keep harmony. He is empowered to impose, as well as collect, fines from the members. There shall be no appeal from his decision in imposing a fine, and he may not be fined except by the unanimous vote of the members present.
