The final week of Summer Reading Program is here!!!! 🤩🥳 Our last two activities -- tomorrow 7/29 we will be doing a scavenger hunt and some detective work from week 1. And Friday 7/31 we will have a Bonus activity for folks who missed a week or just want to hang out with their favorite librarians 😎

A reminder for all families participating, our Party in the Park will be next Wednesday at 1pm at the Weippe Mini Park. . We will do our prize drawing, enjoy some lunch, and get the wiggles out with field games. We look forward to congratulating each ReadAsaurus and gearing up for back to school.

Our friend at PBS let us know that this Saturday Daniel Tiger will be in Lapwai! It's going to be 4 hours of activities, snacks, and curiosity-led opportunities for all families. How fun!? 😄

I truly cannot believe this week marks the halfway point of Summer Reading. We have been doing amazing things here at the library, including building a 3D Stegosaurus puzzle!! Students are blazing reading trails and digging into Jurassic learning.

As a reminder, reading 2 books each week within reading level earns a free ice cream cone from the Timberline Cafe! If you haven't taken a good look at the grand prizes, come on in and grab some books!

We are so very proud of the engagement from students and look forward to the second half of Summer Reading going just as strong. Tomorrow at 1pm we have a special guest DRUM ROLL PLEASE 🥁🥁🥁 Diane and Greg Gerot from Pierce's City Hall will be teaching and performing an original song that will have everyone shaking their tails and scales!

A huge thank you to all the parents and caregivers who set time aside in the day to bring their littles to the library for Summer Reading Programs. You are allstars!

As always, if you need anything or are looking for something to do, please come say hi and spend a few minutes enjoying your local library.

It's finally here!! Summer Reading Program starts tomorrow! 📚🙌

Join us at 1pm Wednesday 7/1 for this week's Jurassic activity, where we will learn about dinosaur habitat! There will be door prizes, parent raffle prizes, and opportunities to win more grand prize raffle tickets.

We're also stocking the shelves with loads of themed books for students to pick from and get their reading logs filled. Every 2 books read earns free ice cream!

It's never too late to register, we have something for every age all month long! Check out the prizes because I spy a couple that I want to win!!

One last thing 🥰 -- we have a flag scavenger hunt at the library for the month of July to celebrate 250 years of our country's independence. See if you can find all 20!

Can't wait to meet all the eager readers this week and have a blast Unearthing a Story.

Summer Reading Program starts in 8 days! If you haven't signed up at the library, come on down because it's never too late to register or get more details. ✏️

Every Wednesday (unless otherwise specified) we will host an activity for Pre-K students and K-6 students to explore our dinosaur themed learning experiences. Teens are always welcome to join, but please know the activities will be geared towards younger learning.

We have had a blast of interest in the Summer Reading Program, for which we are super excited about! We are offering 3 age group engagement efforts this year to get all of the students and littles excited about learning and literature. All programs will start July 1st and run through August 4th, finishing with our Party in the Park and Grand Prize drawing on August 5th.

Age Group & Program Registration Details:

Pre-K - Pickup an ACTIVITY TRACKER at the Library counter next week and complete all activities to receive a certificate and prize at the Party in the Park.

K-6 - Pickup a registration form and READING LOG at the Library counter next week and make it a goal to read at least 2 books each week to win a FREE ice cream cone from the Timberline Cafe. For every book a student reads, they will receive 1 raffle ticket to enter into the Grand Prize bucket. We will also be hosting the weekly program activity on Wednesdays at 1pm. The weekly activity is NOT a requirement for the program but does offer opportunities to win more raffle tickets and cool door prizes. Librarian review and stamp required to receive raffle tickets and ice cream.

Teen - Head to the Library counter next week and pickup a READING CONTRACT and specified tracking log. We are offering 2 options to students based on how they enjoy reading. Option 1 is promising to read a certain number of books, each book earning the student 1 raffle ticket for each book completed. Option 2 is for students who prefer to read for minutes instead of books. 1 raffle ticket is awarded for every 200 minutes read. Teens will have their own raffle prizes. Librarian review and stamp required to receive raffle tickets.

Whether your student enjoys attending the weekly programs or just wants to log some time in the pages, we want to encourage and reward all of their studious efforts. There's a little bit of something for everyone! ❤️📖

We appreciate all of the students' caregiver support in continuing learning even when lesson plans aren't a part of the daily routine. Let us know if you have any questions and we look forward to seeing you at the Summer Reading Program 2026.

School is out and we are gearing up for Summer Reading Program! 📚

This year's theme is Unearth A Story - filled with dinosaurs, history, and fossils galore! 🦖

We have a HUGE selection of new reading material to focus on learning about the giants of the past and everything Jurassic. July will be packed with tons of activities and reading opportunities that we look forward to having eager reader's pack their summer with.

Swing by and fill out your registration today! 📋 Follow the dino tracks to the back counter and ask a librarian for more info. We are also calling on the community for volunteers to help with storytime and activity support. 🤝

Grand Prizes will be available for the K-6 program and the Teen Reading program (stay tuned for a sneak peak of the prizes 🎁).
