There is an elevated to significant threat for dangerous heat to continue through early this week as heat index values approach 115 and actual air temperatures reach the 100 to 104 degree range. Heat exhaustion will be increasingly likely with prolonged outdoor activity, so continue to exercise caution, take plenty of breaks, and stay hydrated. Make sure relatives and neighbors have a cool place to stay. Do not leave young children and pets in unattended vehicles. Interiors of vehicles will reach lethal temperatures in a matter of minutes.

Good evening all,

With the extremely hot temperatures as of late and the drought like conditions; I wanted to remind you of a couple things.
•Hydration is key. Make sure you’re drinking plenty of fluids and electrolytes, this heat can take more out of you than you realize.
•Make sure pets have shade and plenty of water
•When conducting outside activities, make sure to take breaks and hydrate plenty!
•Please avoid any outdoor burning or outdoor activities that could cause a spark. With the heat, decreased humidity, and the lack of water; dangerous fire conditions exist. Fires are harder to contain and develop rapidly causing extremely volatile situations for fire fighters. If a fire starts, call the fire department immediately so that we can respond quickly to mitigate the situation before if gets out of hand.

Stay safe, stay hydrated, and stay cool!

Please share or send this post to your friends in Weir to help us get the word out, our goal is prevention and education so that we don’t have to put a damper on anyone’s weekend.
As we begin the celebration of Americas ‘s 250th Birthday I wanted to take this time to share a few tips & to remind everyone of a few ordinances so this Holiday weekend can be safely & peacefully enjoyed by all.

Noise Ordinance: No person shall operate, or permit to be operated, any motor vehicle which emits level of noise generated from the engine, exhaust or tires, if the sound being generated therefrom can be heard at a distance of fifty feet or more from the vehicle producing the sound, and is in excess of the normal noise generated from a moving vehicle. This noise restriction is designed to prohibit excessively loud exhaust systems, whether caused by design or neglect, squealing tires, rapid accelerations, or any and all other disturbances of the peace caused by willfully operating a vehicle in such a manner. No residence/ property shall allow music to be played that can be heard nor that 100 feet from the residence.
Any person violating any provision of this ordinance shall be guilty of a misderneanor and upon conviction shall be fined not less than Two Hunired Dollars ($200.00) and not more than Five Hundred Dollars ($500.00)

Discharging a firearm inside the Town Limits: up to a 500 dollar fine and/or 0 to 30 days in jail.

We also ask that the shooting of fireworks conclude by 10 p.m. out of respect for your neighbors. Please be careful when shooting fireworks both for your safety & the safety of others around you. Be mindful of the hot weather we are experiencing, make sure to take breaks in the shade & drink plenty of water & electrolytes.

We hope you have a wonderful & safe Independence Day Weekend! 🇺🇸

Today, the Weir Fire Department took delivery of 2 battery powered chainsaws, a windshield removal kit, and a heavy duty battery powered ram which is used in vehicle extrication. These tools enhance our capabilities to serve and protect the citizens of our community more swiftly and safely.

These vital tools were purchased with grant funds that are also going to fund some building repairs and updates. We are continually working to improve our capabilities in order to offer the best protection possible!

🇺🇸 This Memorial Day, we pause to honor and remember the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving our nation. Their courage and dedication will never be forgotten.

As families and friends gather this holiday weekend, we ask everyone to help keep our roads safe. Please buckle up, drive distraction-free, and never drive impaired. Whether alcohol, drugs, or prescription medication are involved, impaired driving puts everyone at risk.

Law Enforcement will be working throughout the holiday weekend to promote occupant safety and remove impaired drivers from our roadways.

✔️ Wear your seatbelt
✔️ Designate a sober driver
✔️ Slow down and stay alert
✔️ Arrive alive

Let’s honor the memory of our fallen heroes by protecting one another and making safety a priority this Memorial Day weekend.

❌It’s a scam. It’s (most likely) always a scam...❌

If you get a text saying the Driver Service Bureau is going to suspend your license, cancel your vehicle registration, or demanding immediate payment… it’s a SCAM!

DSB will not text you threatening suspension or asking you to click random links to pay fees.

❌Don’t click the link. ❌Don’t reply. ❌Delete the message.
