City of Weir Water Service Information:
Bone Creek water's yearly "BURNOUT" began August 1st and will continue to August 31st.
This will affect OUR water system because we BLEND our well water with Bone Creek water and then send it out to our customers.
I know the letter below is way too much information about the process, but the highlighted parts are what to pay attention to for customers.
** You may notice a change in odor and taste with your water due to the burnout.
** There may be discoloration in the water - but it's safe. Maybe not so kind to your white laundry though, so be aware.
If you have questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to call the office. I will get answers for you if I don't know them! 396-8214

QUICK UPDATE

Just a note, as I'm sure everyone has probably forgotten that last year's new water/sewer price ordinance included a YEARLY AUTOMATIC INCREASE in the base costs for water and sewer charges...

The water bills that I am sending out in the mail today will include an increase base fee for both the water and sewer rates. The sewer base rate has increased 25 cents, and the water base rate has increased 25 cents. [That 50 cents equals a 1% increase in your total water/sewer minimum bill.]

Your minimum water/sewer bill inside the city limits will now be $62.50 and still include 1,000 gallons in that price. Price per thousand gallons above that has not changed ($4.50/thousand).

If you are outside city limits and are on our water system only, your new minimum bill will be $39.75 and include 1,000 gallons in that price. Price per thousand gallon above that has not changed ($5.00/thousand).

If you have questions, please feel free to contact me during regular business hours @ 620-396-8214.
~Amy

P.S. Next year in July, this same 50-cent overall increase in base rates will happen again. This was built in to our ordinance to help us keep up with rising water and sewer maintenance costs.
[ And to help the City keep from waiting a few years and then zapping residents with a multi-dollar increase all at once. ]
