Welaka National Fish Hatchery

Welaka National Fish Hatchery We raise between 4.5 to 5 million fish annually. Welaka is a warmwater hatchery. In its 41 ponds, the facility raises between 4.5 to 5 million fish annually.

That is, the species of fish raised here do best in summer water temperatures that reach 75 to 85 degrees Fahrenheit.

The Beecher Spring Nature Trail is now open. Come check it out. Parking is located at the observation tower.

We are rescheduling the fishing rodeo scheduled for November 15th to January 10th. We will have additional information out in the coming weeks so please be on the lookout.

The Aquarium also got a new resident last week. We exchanged our alligator with the Gator Boys out of Tampa. The previous alligator had out grown the enclosure and was ready to return to being a species ambassador with the Gator Boys. We received a smaller alligator that needed some time to grow. Come by and say hi. Thanks Gator Boys for helping us maintain this partnership.
