Hoodland Fire District crews responded at approximately 10:18 a.m. today to a technical rescue and medical emergency near Timberline Lodge on Mount Hood.

An injured male climber became trapped beneath a large boulder east of Silcox Hut in steep alpine terrain. Due to the complexity of the incident, a coordinated rescue operation involving multiple agencies and specialized medical resources was initiated.

Crews successfully extricated the patient at approximately 12:25 p.m. Rescue personnel then safely transported the patient down the mountain to a waiting Life Flight helicopter for transport to a regional trauma center.

Responding agencies included Hoodland Fire District, Clackamas Fire District #1, Clackamas County Sheriffโ€™s Office, U.S. Forest Service Law Enforcement, AMR Reach and Treat Team, Life Flight Network, and Timberline Lodge employees and snow cat operators.

This incident highlights the teamwork and coordination required for technical rescues in the Mount Hood area. Hoodland Fire District thanks all assisting agencies and personnel for their professionalism and commitment to public safety.

If your patio furniture suddenly relocates itself, thatโ€™s just the wind redecorating. If you hear little taps on the windows, congratulations โ€” the sky is throwing free ice.

Stay inside, keep the pets close, and maybe donโ€™t challenge the storm to โ€œdo its worst.โ€ Oregon weather loves taking that personally. ๐Ÿ˜‚

Scattered thunderstorms are possible this evening for most locations east of the coast. Possible hazards include: gusty winds, lightning, localized downpours, and small hail. Remember: when thunder roars, go indoors!

๐Ÿ”ฅ๐Ÿš’ Burn to Learn Training ๐Ÿš’๐Ÿ”ฅ

Our firefighters recently participated in a hands-on Burn to Learn training, gaining valuable experience in live-fire conditions to sharpen skills and improve readiness.

By working in a structured, supervised setting, our firefighters can safely experience the challenges they face on actual calls โ€” helping them stay sharp, prepared, and ready to protect our community.

Thank you to Gresham Fire for hosting and supporting this important training. We appreciate the continued collaboration and look forward to more opportunities to train side by side! ๐Ÿ‘จโ€๐Ÿš’๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€๐Ÿš’

๐Ÿ”ฅ Cooking safety tips:
โ€ข Never leave cooking unattended
โ€ข Keep flammable items away from the stove

๐ŸŒŸ๐Ÿ”ฅ May the 4th be with you! ๐Ÿ”ฅ๐ŸŒŸ

On this Star Wars Day, as we celebrate a galaxy far, far away, letโ€™s also keep things safe right here on Earth. Now is also the time to take action โ€”before wildfire season arrives. ๐ŸŒฒ๐Ÿ”ฅ Please take a moment to clean up your property and remove debris that could fuel fires later in the season.

โœ” Clear dry leaves, branches, and yard waste
โœ” Create defensible space around your home
โœ” Trim back overgrown vegetation
โœ” Properly dispose of debrisโ€”donโ€™t let it pile up

A little preparation now can make a big difference later in protecting your home, your neighbors, and your community.

Stay safe, stay ready, and may the Force guide you toward fire prevention. ๐ŸŒŒโœจ
