PSA: TRAFFIC ALERT
Tomorrow July 3rd, Sycamore Street from the Roanoke River Bridge to 3rd Street (red route) will be closed from 3pm to 10pm for our Independence Day Celebration. Traffic will utilize Highway 301(green routes) to route around the closure. 1st Street from Washington Ave to Highway 301, amd Maple St between 1st and 2nd Street will also be closed.

On 6/1/2026 at approximately 9:40 am, Weldon Fire Department was dispatched to the 1100 block of Elm Street in reference to a structure fire. Weldon Truck 1 and Engine 1 arrived on scene in under 3 minutes to find a commercial tire shop heavily involved. Our paid staff and volunteers alike, as well as volunteers from Halifax Fire Department, immediately went to work to extinguish the fire. The fire was marked under control in approximately 15 minutes. No injuries were reported, 3 people living on the property were displaced due to power meter being pulled. We would like to thank Halifax Fire Department, Weldon Police Department, Halifax County Sherriffs Office, and Halifax County EMS for their assistance with this incident.
