⏰Timing…
•Wednesday Morning - Wednesday Evening, February 18th.

📍Location…
•Northern & Central Illinois.

🔥Hazard…
•High fire danger is expected. Any fires that develop will have the ability to become out of control and spread rapidly.

High to very high fire danger is expected tomorrow as high winds, low humidity values, drought and record warmth moves in.

Wildfires have exploded in the Plains this evening and we expect these conditions to spread east. Please avoid all burning including grilling, watch your cigarette butts and be careful with farming equipment.

Fires can start and spread extremely fast in these conditions.

Unfortunately we were recently informed that there will not be a vaccination clinic in Weldon this year. There will still be clinics offered in Wapella and Clinton that county residents are welcome to go to. We will share the dates and times when they are known. We hope to be able to host these again in the future.

Edited to add the dates/times!

At 12:24 today we were dispatched to a house fire outside of Weldon. Due to the high winds the fire quickly spread throughout the home. The winds and cold temperatures made conditions tough for first responders.

We would like to thank all of those who showed up to help! We ended up calling for a 5th alarm for additional manpower and water supply. Thank you, Dewitt County EMS, Clinton Fire, Deland Fire, Farmer City Fire, Cisco Fire, Wapella Fire, Kenney Fire, Dewitt County Sheriff, Argenta-Oreana Fire, Maroa Fire, Dewitt County EMA, Weldon Village and Nixon township for assistance with a backhoe.

Luckily the occupants were able to make it outside and no one was injured. Unfortunately the home was a total loss.
