Wellesley Youth Commission (Official) The Wellesley Youth Commission provides programs and services designed to ensure that Wellesley's youth feel they are a valued part of the Wellesley community.

You have all the ingredients you need for better mental health — this dynamic live demonstration will show you how to put them together. Nationally recognized mental health advocate and author Dayna Altman uses baking to help people create their own mental health cookbooks with recipes, resource pages, and stories of resilience. This is a Thrive Wellesley event, a new mental health program sponsored by the Wellesley Kiwanis Club, with a generous grant from the Community Fund for Wellesley. The Wellesley Youth Commission’s free summer programs registration is OPEN!

Registration for these programs—one of the best deals in town—is open for kids entering grades 6, 7, and 8 in the fall of 2023. Wellesley residents as well as those who don’t live in town but attend Wellesley Public Schools can register.

The week-long programs are:

Fire Rescuers, July 10-July 14 from 9:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Wellesley Summer Eco Program, July 17-July 21 from 9:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Wellesley Police Department Youth Academy, July 21-August 4 from 9:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Join the Wellesley Youth Commission along with the WHS & WMS PTSO in a special screening of "If Only" at the WHS Auditorium Wed Oct 19th, 6:00 pm - 8:30 pm.

"If Only" follows the story of two teenagers who experiment with and become addicted to drugs. The film has been viewed by hundreds of thousands of teens, parents, and adults across the country to raise awareness about the dangers of prescription drug misuse and encourages conversation around substance use disorder prevention, diversion, and recovery.

Following the screening will be a special panel opened by Jim Wahlberg the movie producer

The second annual EcoCamp kicked off with a fishing clinic this morning! 25+ students will learn about all of Wellesley's open space, its wildlife, and the necessary outdoor skills to enjoy it for the next five days - stay posted for more updates to come!

Foundation for MetroWest is excited to share that it will be once again offer Youth in Philanthropy (YIP) in Wellesley this winter in partnership with the Fund for Wellesley.

Please see below for the details:

What: Youth in Philanthropy (YIP) is an opportunity for students to become leaders in our community. Participants learn the importance of philanthropy and the needs that exist in our backyard. YIP students evaluate grant proposals and award $10,000 in grants.

Who: Any high school student who lives or learns in Wellesley

Where: TBA, Wellesley

When: Mondays, 7:00-8:30 PM, beginning January 8, 2018 (full schedule)

Cost: Free!
