Our office is CLOSED on Marathon Monday/Patriot's Day, April 20th, but let's all Cheer for Roland Ordovas as he runs the BAA Boston Marathon to raise funds for the Wellesley Council on Aging. He will be among the group of runners starting in Hopkinton at 11:30 AM, and reaching Wellesley around 1:30 PM. Roland will be wearing his yellow jersey showing “Wellesley Council on Aging”; his bib number is 30702 and his progress can be tracked on the BAA website baa.org with the “Racing App”. Let’s support and encourage Roland as he passes through Wellesley.

Thanks to Roland and the FWCOA for supporting the COA!

The Scene: Above and Beyond

Andy doesn't just stop the bus; he pauses the world for a moment. You can see the genuine care in his posture as he steps down from the driver’s seat—a role he clearly views as more than just "getting from A to B."

Our bus drivers are simply the best! We are truly blessed here at the COA!

Check out this latest scam! Some of the staff here at the Council of Aging received this on our personal phones.

Be safe and do NOT fall victim to this heinous act!

Well Needham, they’re trying again.

We’ve been made aware of a “Notice of Hearing – Traffic Violation” floating around claiming to be from the State of Massachusetts.

And honestly, we have some questions…

👉 Judge “John Smith”? Bold choice.
We’re not saying it’s fake just because of that, but we also don’t think John Smith from Pocahontas is making a surprise return to preside over traffic court in Boston.

👉 Scan this QR code and pay immediately? Ah yes, nothing says “official court document” like a mystery square telling you to send money as fast as humanly possible.

👉 Vague violation + urgency = panic payment attempt. Classic move. Not new. Still not working, hopefully.

And unfortunately, this isn’t even one of the fun scams where a prince needs your help moving millions of dollars out of his country and, for some reason, picked you with your [email protected], [email protected], [email protected], [email protected] or [email protected] email address.

Reality check:
✔️ Courts don’t operate like this
✔️ Legit notices don’t rely on QR codes for payment
✔️ If something feels rushed, vague, or just plain weird, it’s probably a scam.

What to do:
➡️ Don’t scan it
➡️ Don’t pay it
➡️ Don’t let “Judge John Smith” ruin your day
➡️ Call the actual court or us if you’re unsure

We’ll say it again for the people in the back. If it feels off, it is off.
