The parade was great fun for all.

The balloon was inflated inside the Wellesley Municipal Light Plant (WMLP) garage (pictured here.)

The balloon was then carried outside by members of the Wellesley Boys Lacrosse Team. Unfortunately, as the parade units lined up, gusty winds pushed the balloon into a pointed area on the top of the Aleppo Clown Car causing it to pop.

Popping up across town, Wellesley residents will soon see the official logo for Wellesley Wonderful Weekend, with festivities beginning in May—a patriotic concert on May 14, https://givebutter.com/May14Concert followed by the main events on Saturday, May 16, and Sunday, May 17, 2026. https://wellesleywonderfulweekend.com/schedule-2/
This year’s theme, the “250th Anniversary of the Birth of America,” invites reflection: What does freedom mean in our time? And how do we contribute to the next chapter of America’s story?
At its heart, Wellesley Wonderful Weekend is a celebration of unity. While America is vast and diverse, its strength begins in communities like ours—in town centers, along parade routes, and in shared moments of connection and joy.
As we gather to mark 250 years since our nation’s founding, we celebrate not only America’s past, but also Wellesley’s enduring spirit.
The 2026 Wellesley Wonderful Weekend is a tribute to both independence and community—a reminder that the American story continues, and that here in Wellesley, we are proud to be part of it: volunteering at local events, supporting neighbors, preserving our history, and welcoming new voices into civic life.
