🇺🇸 Happy Flag Day! 🇺🇸

Today, we proudly honor the Stars and Stripes, a symbol of the freedoms, opportunities, and shared values that unite us as Americans.

Since its adoption on June 14, 1777, our nation's flag has represented the resilience, courage, and sacrifices of those who have served and continue to serve our country. It reminds us of the enduring principles of liberty, democracy, and community that define our nation.

As we celebrate Flag Day, I encourage everyone to take a moment to reflect on the meaning of our flag and the generations of Americans who have worked to preserve the freedoms it represents.

From all of us in Village of Wellington Florida, thank you to our veterans, active-duty military members, and their families for your service and dedication.

May we continue to honor our flag not only with pride, but through our commitment to building strong, vibrant, and welcoming communities for all.

Happy Flag Day, Wellington! 🇺🇸

One of the things that makes our such a special place is the strong partnership among our local businesses, community organizations, and civic leaders.

Today, I had the opportunity to join Wellington Vice Mayor Maria Antuña and Councilman Johnny Meier at the Realtors of the Palm Beaches & Greater Fort Lauderdale Marketing Madness Wednesday event at the Wellington Community Center. As we celebrate three years of this successful partnership, it’s exciting to see local realtors, business professionals, and community leaders continuing to come together to network, share ideas, and strengthen connections throughout our community.

These conversations matter. They help us better understand the needs of our residents and businesses while creating opportunities to work together in support of Wellington’s continued success.

Thank you to the Realtor® Association of the Palm Beaches for your ongoing partnership and commitment to our community. And thank you to everyone who participates each Wednesday morning to help make Wellington the we are all proud to call home.

Hurricane season is officially underway, and while the latest forecast from NOAA NWS Storm Prediction Center suggests a potentially below-normal Atlantic hurricane season, preparedness remains just as important as ever.
NOAA's 2026 outlook calls for 8-14 named storms, including 3-6 hurricanes and 1-3 major hurricanes. While that is below the historical average, it only takes one storm impacting our area to make it a significant season for Village of Wellington Florida and South Florida.

Now is the time to review your family's hurricane plan, update emergency contact information, check your insurance coverage, and refresh your disaster supply kit. Residents should also inspect their property for potential hazards, trim trees, secure loose outdoor items, and ensure they have a plan for pets and any family members with special needs.

As a reminder:
✅ Know your evacuation zone and shelter options
✅ Sign up for local emergency alerts and notifications
✅ Stock enough food, water, medications, and supplies for several days
✅ Review generator safety guidelines
✅ Keep important documents in a secure, waterproof location
✅ Have multiple ways to receive weather and emergency information

Our Village team works year-round with our public safety and emergency management partners to prepare for severe weather, but preparedness begins at home. A forecast may predict fewer storms, but every season deserves our full attention. The best time to prepare is before a storm is on the radar.

Today marks the 82nd Anniversary of D-Day, when Allied troops landed in Normandy to combat the N***s. We honor the extraordinary courage and sacrifices of the Allied forces, who turned the tide of WWII and helped pave the way for the liberation of Europe and the world.

Our troops can never be thanked enough for their willingness to fight for our freedoms, but I hope you will join me in honoring and remembering those who served.

June is Pride Month, a time to celebrate the diversity, dignity, and contributions of LGBTQ+ individuals in our community and across the nation.

One of Wellington's greatest strengths is the people who call our Village home. Our is enriched by residents, businesses, volunteers, and team members from all walks of life who help make Wellington a welcoming place where everyone has the opportunity to belong, contribute, and thrive.

As we recognize Pride Month, we reaffirm the values of respect, inclusion, and kindness that help build strong communities. By embracing our differences and treating one another with understanding and compassion, we continue to strengthen the fabric of our Village.

Wishing everyone a safe, meaningful, and joyful Pride Month.

Today, we join many in our community in mourning the loss of Dr. Carmine Priore, a true pioneer of Wellington and one of the leaders whose vision helped shape the community we know today.

Dr. Priore's service to Wellington spanned decades. From his early leadership on the Acme Improvement District Board to serving on Wellington's inaugural Village Council and later as our second Mayor, he played an instrumental role in guiding our community through some of its most important formative years. His dedication to public service extended beyond Wellington through his leadership with the Florida League of Cities, the Rotary Club of Wellington, and his mentorship of countless community leaders.

The Wellington we enjoy today did not happen by accident. It was built through the commitment, sacrifice, and vision of individuals like Dr. Priore who believed deeply in this community and worked tirelessly to preserve its unique character while preparing it for the future.

For those who have had the privilege of serving Wellington, we walk paths that leaders like Dr. Priore helped create. His legacy can be seen throughout our Village, in our strong sense of community, our tradition of civic engagement, and our commitment to local self-governance.

On behalf of our Village of Wellington Florida family and in gratitude for a life dedicated to public service, we extend our deepest condolences to Dr. Priore's family, friends, and all who had the honor of knowing him. May we honor his memory by continuing the work of building a community worthy of the foundation he helped establish.

As families and friends in our and around the world gather to celebrate Eid al-Adha, we extend our warmest wishes to all who observe the holiday. Eid al-Adha is a time of faith, reflection, generosity, and community; values that resonate deeply here in the Village of Wellington Florida. It is also a reminder of the importance of compassion, service to others, and coming together in celebration and understanding.

Eid Mubarak to all celebrating. May this holiday bring peace, joy, and blessings to you and your loved ones.

This Memorial Day, we pause as a community to honor the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our nation. Their courage and selflessness secured the freedoms we enjoy today and remind us that liberty is never free.

In the Village of Wellington Florida, we are grateful for the many veterans, active-duty service members, and military families who call our community home. Today especially, we remember those who did not return home and the families who carry their legacy forward each day. As we gather with family and friends this holiday weekend, may we also take a moment for reflection, gratitude, and remembrance.

On behalf of the Village of Wellington, we wish everyone a safe and meaningful Memorial Day.
