Public Notice is beginning to be made on budget hearings and can be found in the Wellington Newspaper. As I, (Susan) come across the notices, I will try to post information on this page. Budgets determine whether your mill levy goes up, stays the same or goes down and this is the taxpayer's opportunity to voice concerns and raise questions.

There has been a lot of discussion about property value and taxes, mill levies and budgets. This summer, taxpayers will receive a notice of estimated tax bill from the clerk's office. On this notice, there will be a section listing the taxing subdivisions for your property and public hearing information. These hearings will allow taxpayers to be more informed about where tax money is being spent or where funding is needed, ask questions and possibly voice concerns. Many taxing subdivisions are working on their budgets now to have them submitted to the clerk in time for their office to send out these notifications.
USD 353 has posted a public notice that they will be holding a hearing to amend their budget. It is for the purpose of hearing and answering objections from taxpayers relating to the proposed use of funds.
As more notices are published in regards to budgets, we will try and post the information to help serve as a reminder for anyone who may wish to attend.
