🏈🚀 Class of 2026 graduate Noah Cantu proudly represented the Wellington Skyrockets tonight in the 21st Annual ASCO All-Star Classic in Lubbock!

The Red Team came up just short in a hard-fought 13-14 contest, but Noah made his presence felt from the start by scoring the game’s opening touchdown. He continued to shine throughout the night with several big catches and key runs in the second half.

Noah was coached by Coach Eric Mims and his coaching staff from Palo Duro High School. Adding to the special nature of the evening, Noah’s grandfather, Philip Ward, played football at Palo Duro High School in Amarillo alongside Coach Mims’ father from 1970–1972. It was a unique connection spanning generations and a reminder of the lasting relationships and traditions that make Texas high school football so special.

We are proud of the way Noah represented Wellington, his teammates, coaches, and the Skyrocket tradition on one of the biggest stages in the South Plains. Congratulations, Noah, on a great performance and an outstanding high school career!

Congratulations to 2026 Wellington High School graduate Jacy Lampe on receiving the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo Exhibitor Scholarship in the amount of $20,000!

The Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo awards Exhibitor Scholarships to students who have participated in the show and demonstrated leadership, dedication, and commitment through agriculture, academics, and community involvement. This prestigious scholarship helps students pursue their higher education goals and future careers.

Jacy plans to attend Texas A&M University–San Antonio to pursue a degree in Water Resources Science and Technology. She will also be recognized at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo Scholarship Banquet on July 11th in Houston.

If you need an official transcript mailed, please bring the address where it needs to be sent. Seniors who still need FAFSA verification must bring proof of submission or sign an opt-out form before transcripts can be released.

Congratulations to our eight Wellington High School Skyrockets who earned All-District 2-AA Baseball honors this season! 🚀⚾️

The Rockets brought home some major recognition this year, including the district’s Defensive Player of the Year and Newcomer of the Year honors, along with several other all-district selections.

Proud of these young men and the way they represented Wellington Baseball all season long!

Not the way we wanted it to end, but our Wellington High School Current Issues & Events team still finished as the 5th best team in the entire state in Class 2A at the UIL State Academic Meet in Austin. What an incredible accomplishment! 🚀

So proud of our three seniors — Noah Cantu, Dixon Dugan, and Treylea Wiebe — for the leadership, hard work, and countless hours they poured into this program. You represented Wellington with class and excellence.

The future is bright as well. Keep grinding, Lawson Inman and Ava Peters — your time is coming!

🚀🏅 STATE TRACK RESULTS 🏅🚀

What a day in Austin for WHS Track!

WHS senior Major Brown ends his Skyrocket career on the medal stand, finishing as the Class 2A State Bronze Medalist in the triple jump! Major was coached in the triple jump by Karen Fisher.

Now, we get to watch this graduated Skyrocket continue his track and field career as a Buffalo at West Texas A&M University. 🦬

Freshman Jax Cantu also represented WHS well, finishing as the 8th best long jumper in the state.

What a way to go out, Major — and the future is bright for Jax!

From freshman fire to senior finish — Wellington is being represented on the biggest stage in Texas today! 🚀🔥

Freshman Jax Cantu and senior Major Brown are competing today at the UIL State Track Meet in Austin. One chasing his first state memories, one finishing an incredible high school career the right way.

The Wellington FFA Chapter Banquet was held tonight as many students were honored for their hard work and accomplishments throughout the year.

🏆 Sophia Derr was named the Star Greenhand
🏆 Anna Henard was named the Star Chapter Member
🏆 Jacy Lampe was named the Top Overall Student

Special recognition was also given to Aison Skelton for earning 1st place in the welding competition. Senior FFA members Kenady Skelton, Jacy Lampe, and Brecklyn Powell were also recognized as scholarship recipients. Current officers were recognized for their leadership and service, while next year’s officers were introduced.

It was a great night to celebrate the success, leadership, and dedication of our Wellington FFA members. Congratulations to all of tonight’s honorees! 🚀🌾
