In the past 24 hours in the Town of Wells, Maine, there were 16 EMS calls as our busy season approaches. Wells EMS was able to respond to 13 of the calls with Wells Fire Department with their staffing for a call, Kennebunk Fire-Rescue and North Berwick Rescue responding to the other calls and we thank them for the assistance.

Wells EMS does want give a special thanks to Wells Maine Fire Department, Wells Professional Firefighters Association, IAFF Local 4652, Wells Police Officers and Dispatchers for being beside us throughout the day yesterday as well as our day in and day out calls throughout the year.

This time of the year can be a challenge when the population goes from roughly 12,000 people year round to the summer population of roughly 35,000 people.

Compared to the month of June last year, this year we are 30 calls ahead with 3 days to go as the weekend approaches.

Again, thank you to all of the Wells Responders and everyone who supports all of our organizations.

Here’s a public safety announcement from our brothers and sisters from Wells Maine Fire Department.

An important NFPA Generator Safety reminder. We have had a few generator related incidents that were thankfully mitigated before any serious injury, illness, or damage.

Today Wells EMS, Wells Maine Fire Department and Wells Police responded to an incident that needed all hands on scene. It was determined that this patient required a quicker transport as well as progressive definitive care and Lifeflight of Maine was called. The location of the call was a key component to calling Lifeflight and it was quickly determined that the best option was to meet the helicopter in the field next to Pratt & Whitney on Wells Street in North Berwick.
With the cooperation, knowledge and skillset of all the above entities to also include the dispatchers at the Wells Police Department, this call was one of the smoothest run calls if anyone saw in person, they would be amazed.
A special thank you goes out to North Berwick Police, North Berwick Fire and the Plant Protection personnel at Pratt & Whitney for your assistance at the landing location.
