Today, we take a moment to recognize and thank someone who has dedicated the last 41 years of her life to serving our community.
Today, June 1, 2026, after 41 remarkable years of service, including 18 years as Chief of Police, Chief Jo-Ann Putnam is retiring.
Chief Putnam has left a lasting impact on every officer she has lead and every member of our community she has served. She treated every concern with compassion and care, as though it involved her own family. Whether responding to a call, attending a community event, or simply sharing a laugh and a smile, she always made people feel valued and heard.
This is the kind of legacy that will never be forgotten.
Today’s officers are fortunate to carry forward the lessons, values, and dedication that Chief Putnam gave to our community. Our beautiful police facility would not have been possible without the trust she built within the community and her tireless efforts to educate others about the needs of our department.
There are countless examples of Chief Putnam’s contributions, far too many to fit into a single Facebook post. In truth, “thank you” hardly seems enough to express our gratitude for four decades of dedicated service. But today, it is the most important thing we can say.
Thank you, Chief Putnam. Your leadership, kindness, and commitment to this community will be deeply missed. 💙
