Exciting News, Members:

The Wells Branch Community League has WON the 2024 Rotary Club of Wells Photo Contest, resulting in a $500 grant for our beloved Hall! The photo taken by member Beth Goodwin was submitted to the Rotary by League Secretary Lucy Hardy. A description of our Hall and how it continues to provide a meeting place and venue for community members for their private events, as a place to host public concerts, suppers and theater productions and other uses was included in the submission.

See the Rotary Club of Wells page for the complete contest and our winning photo!

Sending sympathy to the family of Ray Goodwin, an active League member. Ray passed away last week. He and his wife Cathy initiated a very successful History of the Branch event in 2014, hosting all the planning meetings at their lovely home. Branchers displayed their historical family photos and artifacts and childrens' activities were going on outside. Here Ray is manning a spin art craft. Ray was always very generous in allowing renters of the Hall to park at his nearby Goodwin's Wildlife Gallery. Ray was a very fine carver of Mother Nature's birds and animals.

Those who wish to donate in Ray's memory may do so to the Audubon Society or to the caregivers of dementia patients support group "A Place to Start," 41 Main Street, Kennebunk, 04043. Visiting hours will be on September 15 from 9 to 10 at Bibbers in Wells.

Rest in peace, kind and gentle soul.

Wonderful turnout for the September 24th 2022 potluck supper. The food was delicious and the camaraderie delightful. Great fun having a sing-along after the meal with two different pianists and the vast majority of attendees belting out their best. So nice to meet several newcomers who have moved into the Branch in the last couple of years.

Join the fun!
