Let’s Celebrate Blu Next Week! (Emphasis on Thursday, March 26th! 🐶💙💛🚀)
Next week marks the one-year anniversary of Blu’s accident on March 26, 2025, at 5:00 PM. On that day, Blu was rushed to MedVet, where he stayed for nearly 15 days in the ICU. He then came home to recover until he was able to begin his 10 sessions of physical therapy.
On May 22, Blu walked back through our schools with the senior class for the first time. It was an amazing recovery. All of this was made possible through the support of our community—staff, students, and families—who came together to raise $30,000 for Blu.
Through coverage by three different TV stations and over 1,000 shares on social media, we discovered that the love for Blu extends far beyond our city limits.
Next week (Wednesday–Friday), we will celebrate Blu and the many people who helped him during that time in a special way. I am planning to take as many photos as possible of people with Blu throughout our community.
We are also asking people that have pictures of them and Blu to help us saturate those pictures on their social media, tagging Officer J & K9 Blu
On Thursday, March 26, 2026, our community, WCS staff and students across the district are encouraged to wear blue or shirts featuring Blu’s image as a symbol of support from one year ago. Officer J and Blu will also try to visit as many classrooms and local business as possible—a chance for Blu to share some love with all his favorite Rockets.
