A big thank you to everyone who joined us today for the groundbreaking of the City of Wellston RV Park! Your support means so much as we continue building opportunities for growth, tourism, and recreation in our community.

We would also like to extend a sincere thank you to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) for their continued faith and investment in the City of Wellston. This project is possible because of their commitment to supporting communities like ours.

This project is more than just a new amenity—it’s a strategic investment backed by real data. Recent Placer.ai analysis shows:

1. Our Wellston Ballfields alone saw nearly 50,000 visits within the last year, with steady growth and repeat visitors.

2. Lake Alma State Park draws over 66,000 visits in just six months, bringing visitors from across the region and beyond.

Many of those visitors are traveling from outside our immediate area, demonstrating strong tourism traffic and regional draw.

All of this activity confirms what we already know—people are coming to Wellston and the surrounding area, but there are currently limited overnight accommodations to support them.

The new RV Park will help us capture that demand by:
• Providing convenient lodging for visitors
• Supporting local businesses and restaurants
• Enhancing recreation opportunities tied to Lake Alma and our ballfields
• Strengthening Wellston’s position as a destination

Today’s groundbreaking marks the beginning of something exciting, and we’re grateful to share it with all of you.

Stay tuned for updates as the project moves forward—we can’t wait to welcome visitors to Wellston in a whole new way!
