There has been alot of discussion about what constitutes "catch and release" and how it effects possession limits. We asked the NYDEC to provide us with clarification. They have done just that, from both the law enforcement and fisheries branches. We will update our web page and our handouts to reflect these rulings.

The Wellsville Lions Club is proud to bestow the highest honor that can be granted to a member of a Lions Club, the Melvin Jones Fellowship Award, to Lion Roger Moyer.

The Melvin Jones Fellowship was created in 1973 and named after the founder of Lions Clubs International, the award honors individuals who demonstrate exceptional humanitarian service and a profound commitment to the community.

Congratulations Roger, and well-deserved.

The passing of the gavel!

The year for the Wellsville Lions Club starts on July 1, and with the new year comes a new President. Lion Mike Raptis officially passed the gavel to incoming President Lion Bruce Hand.

Lions Club Scholarships and Academic Excellence Awards for Senior Scholarship NIght at Wellsville HS



Senior Scholarship Night was held on Tuesday, June 2, 2026, at 7:00 p.m. in the Secondary School Auditorium of the Wellsville High School. Each year the Wellsville Lions Club presents scholarships and recognizes academic excellence for outstanding students.



Lions Club Scholarships were presented to Burton Billings, Brennen Geffers and Sierra Caruso by Keith Loines, representing the Scholarship Committee of the Wellsville Lions Club. The students receive $1000 upon successful completion of each of their first and third semesters.



Plaques for Subject Matter Academic Excellence were also presented by Keith Loines.

Your Wellsville Lions Club was honored to present Wellsville Little League Baseball with a check for $3,600 for much needed repairs to the backstops. The Wellsville Lions Club has been a long-time supporter of Little League in our community.
