Today, we’re celebrating a HUGE accomplishment of one of our own!

Out of assistant principals across the entire state of Louisiana, 50 are selected for the Louisiana Department of Education’s Aspiring Principal Fellowship… and Welsh High’s very own Mr. Gautreaux was chosen! ❤️🖤

This honor recognizes outstanding educational leaders who are making a difference in their schools and communities, and anyone who knows Mr. Gautreaux knows how deserving he is of this recognition. His leadership, dedication to students, and commitment to Welsh High continue to make us better every single day.

Congratulations, Mr. Gautreaux! Thank you for all you do for our students, staff, and Greyhound family.

Pre-registration deadline is May 26

Jeff Davis Parish Child Nutrition Department will offer Summer Free 7-Day Meal Kits for children 0-18 years of age each Monday starting June 1, 2026, and ending July 20, 2026. Please use the link or QR code to register. One registration form must be completed per child, and the selected pick-up-site location at the time of registration will be the designated pick-up-site for the summer. Pre-registration will close on May 26, 2026. On-site registration will be available for the first three designated pick-up dates.

✨ How it started versus how it’s going….now THAT is growth. ✨

Every year, we proudly display our TOPS bulletin board to celebrate the goals our students are working toward — and this year, the growth has been incredible.

As scores improved throughout the year, we watched students move up levels, set higher goals, and continue pushing themselves academically. Seeing more names added to the board — and seeing students climb from one TOPS category to the next — is exactly why we do what we do. ❤️🖤

At Welsh High, we believe in helping every student find success and reach their potential. We are SO proud of the hard work these students have put in this year, and we can’t wait to see where they go next.

Yesterday was a busy day for the Greyhounds, but before we move on to all that’s ahead, we wanted to take one more moment to congratulate the Class of 2026. ❤️🖤

What a special group of students to celebrate. We are so proud of everything this class accomplished during their time at Welsh High, and we know their best days are still ahead of them.

Thank you for the memories, the laughter, the school spirit, and the legacy you leave behind. Once a Greyhound, always a Greyhound.

Big thank you to Sno-B’s for bringing their snow cone truck out to WHS today! 🍧❤️🖤

Our “Locked In” award recipients enjoyed their free snow cones as part of their Awards Day recognition. These students were selected by their teachers for staying focused, showing dedication, and being positive students all year long.

We were also excited that ALL students and staffulty had the opportunity to enjoy a snow cone today and cool off before wrapping up the school year!

Thank you again to Sno-B’s for helping make it such a fun afternoon for our Greyhounds! 🐾

Back-to-back STATE RUNNER-UPS. ❤️🖤⚾️

This team fought with heart, grit, and Greyhound pride all season long, and we could not be more PROUD of the way they represented Welsh High.

Now let’s head home and celebrate our Class of 2026 at graduation tonight at 7:30. 🎓
