Welsh Police Department Investigating Vehicle Burglaries and Theft
The Welsh Police Department is currently investigating several incidents involving vehicle burglaries and vehicle thefts that occurred during the early morning hours of March 9, 2026, between approximately 2:00 a.m. and 4:00 a.m.
Officers responded to multiple reports of vehicles that had been burglarized, as well as vehicles that were reported stolen.
Preliminary investigation indicates that several male subjects were observed in the Naebors Street area during the time period mentioned, attempting to gain entry into vehicles and, in some cases, successfully doing so. In several instances, suspects entered vehicles and removed personal property including wallets, fi****ms, and other valuables.
At this time, investigators believe the incidents that occurred in this area and during the specified time frame are related. Detectives are actively working to identify those responsible, with assistance from other law enforcement agencies. Several persons of interest have been identified, and arrests are expected as the investigation progresses.
All of the vehicles that were reported stolen have been recovered and some of the property has been recovered as part of the ongoing investigation.
Based on information gathered thus far, it is not believed that the individuals involved pose an ongoing threat to the property of residents in the Town of Welsh.
The Welsh Police Department reminds residents that simple preventative measures can greatly reduce the likelihood of becoming a victim of vehicle burglary or theft. Citizens are encouraged to:
• Always lock vehicle doors, even when parked at home.
• Remove all valuables from vehicles or keep them out of sight.
• Never leave keys or key fobs inside a vehicle.
• Park in well-lit areas whenever possible.
• Report any suspicious activity in their neighborhood.
Residents who have surveillance cameras or doorbell cameras in the Naebors Street area are encouraged to review overnight footage and report any suspicious individuals or activity to law enforcement.
Anyone with information related to these incidents is encouraged to contact the Welsh Police Department at 337-734-2626. Citizens should call the Welsh Police Department or 911 if they observe suspicious activity in progress.
The Welsh Police Department will continue to provide updates as the investigation progresses and remains committed to protecting the safety and property of our community.
