Press Release/ August 19th/Death Investigation/Case number 26W13333 **CORRECTION identified as a 48 year old **

On August 18, 2026, at approximately 4:11 p.m., Wenatchee Police officers responded to a report of an unresponsive man inside a silver Honda Pilot parked at the Wenatchee Police Department, 140 S. Mission Street. Officers located a deceased man inside the vehicle. He was later identified as a 48-year-old Wenatchee resident. Wenatchee Police detectives and Chelan County Chief Deputy Coroner Faye Fetters responded to the scene. The immediate area was secured while investigators processed the scene. At this time, detectives have no reason to believe foul play was involved. The investigation remains ongoing. Additional information will be released as it becomes available.

Press Release / July 13, 2026 / Shooting Suspect in Custody / Case 26W11050

On July 11, 2026, at approximately 10:53pm, Officers responded to the area of the 1600 block of South Mission Street due to a female caller reporting her and another person had been shot. Wenatchee Police Officers responded along with the assistance from partnering agencies.

Following an all-day investigation by detectives, the suspect, 29-year-old Marcos E.B. Gaspar-Bernal of Wenatchee, was arrested and interviewed by Detectives. He was then booked for Attempted Murder 1st Degree, Attempted Murder 1st Degree Domestic Violence.

The prognosis for both victims is being monitored and the criminal charges may be amended as the investigation progresses.

Thank you to the Chelan County Sheriff’s Office, East Wenatchee Police Department, Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, Washington State Patrol, Kittitas County Sheriff’s Office, Wenatchee Valley Fire, and Ballard Ambulance for the excellent demonstration of teamwork and dedication to the safety of our community.
