THEY’RE HEEEERE!
The first waves of migrating Ruby-throated Hummingbirds are passing through the park as they migrate south for the winter.
With very little rain in our area recently, plants are dry so fewer flowers around means more hummingbirds at feeders.
Hummingbird feeders are not ESSENTIAL for hummingbirds, but they provide supplemental nectar if the hummingbirds need it.
Setting up a hummingbird feeder at home?
The nectar formula is easy! One part sugar - four parts water and THAT’S IT! No dyes please! The red feeder is enough to attract hummingbirds.
If setting up a new feeder, be patient and make sure that nectar is fresh by replacing it every 2-3 days. Fill up a feeder halfway or less until the hummingbirds find it.
