🔥 Welcome to the Weslaco Fire Department, Julia Rocha! 🔥

The Weslaco Fire Department proudly welcomes Julia Rocha as the first female firefighter in department history.

At just 20 years old, Julia successfully completed the same written and agility tests as every recruit, earning her place through hard work, determination, and commitment to service. In this video, Julia shares her journey into the fire service, while Fire Chief Antonio Lopez reflects on the importance of this historic milestone for our department and community.

We are proud to have Julia join our team and look forward to watching her grow in her career as she serves and protects Weslaco.

🚒 New Spartan Heavy Rescue Truck for Weslaco Fire Department 🚒

The Weslaco Fire Department has added a Spartan Heavy Rescue Truck, assigned to Station 2, strengthening the department’s emergency response capabilities.

This unit will support water rescue, hazardous materials incidents, and high-angle emergencies, and is fully equipped with vehicle extrication tools for traffic accidents. The addition of this apparatus also marks the department’s fourth fully staffed primary pumper.

The new truck is expected to begin responding to emergencies by mid-February, enhancing service and safety for our community.

🚒🎓 Weslaco Fire Department at Cuellar Middle School Career Day 🎓🚒

The Weslaco Fire Department was happy to attend Cuellar Middle School’s College, Career, and Military Fair, where 8th grade students explored different educational paths and career opportunities.

Events like this allow the Weslaco Fire Department to inspire students, share real-world experiences, and highlight the many ways to serve the community through City careers.

🚒 Weslaco Fire Department Supporting North Texas ❄️

Earlier today, members of the Weslaco Fire Department deployed to the Houston/Dallas area to provide support ahead of the cold weather expected to impact North Texas. A team of six firefighters is en route as part of this mutual aid effort.

We are proud of our firefighters for stepping up to support fellow communities and first responders. Please join us in wishing them safe travels.

🔥 Collective Bargaining Agreement Signing 🔥

The Weslaco Fire Department officially finalized a new three year Collective Bargaining Agreement with Weslaco Firefighters Local 3207, marking an important step forward for our department and the firefighters who serve this community.

This agreement reflects a strong focus on firefighter wellness, retention, and readiness. It includes pay adjustments, enhanced certification incentives, and a six month trial of a 48/96 schedule, allowing firefighters more time with their families while ensuring uninterrupted emergency response for Weslaco.

We thank City leadership, Local 3207, and our firefighters for their collaboration and commitment throughout this process. Together, we continue strengthening our department and the level of service we provide to the community. 🚒

🔥 Weslaco Fire Department Pinning & Promotion Ceremony 🔥

Last night, the Weslaco Fire Department proudly celebrated the dedication and achievements of our firefighters during our Pinning and Promotion Ceremony.

We recognized the men and women stepping into new leadership roles as Drivers, Lieutenants, and Captains. Each promotion represents years of hard work, training, and a deep commitment to protecting and serving the Weslaco community.

We extend a heartfelt thank-you to the families who stand behind our firefighters every day, and to our city leadership for joining us in honoring these important milestones.

🔥🚒 This week, our Weslaco Fire Department prospects put their training to the test during the Firefighter Agility Exam!
This challenging evaluation measures strength, endurance, and determination — all essential qualities for those who serve and protect our community. From climbing ladders to carrying equipment and maneuvering through obstacles, our cadets showed resilience, teamwork, and commitment.
We are proud of their hard work and excited to see these future firefighters grow into their calling. 💪👩‍🚒👨‍🚒
