πŸš’ New Spartan Heavy Rescue Truck for Weslaco Fire Department πŸš’

The Weslaco Fire Department has added a Spartan Heavy Rescue Truck, assigned to Station 2, strengthening the department’s emergency response capabilities.

This unit will support water rescue, hazardous materials incidents, and high-angle emergencies, and is fully equipped with vehicle extrication tools for traffic accidents. The addition of this apparatus also marks the department’s fourth fully staffed primary pumper.

The new truck is expected to begin responding to emergencies by mid-February, enhancing service and safety for our community.

Earlier today, members of the Weslaco Fire Department deployed to the Houston/Dallas area to provide support ahead of the cold weather expected to impact North Texas. A team of six firefighters is en route as part of this mutual aid effort.

The Weslaco Fire Department officially finalized a new three year Collective Bargaining Agreement with Weslaco Firefighters Local 3207, marking an important step forward for our department and the firefighters who serve this community.

This agreement reflects a strong focus on firefighter wellness, retention, and readiness. It includes pay adjustments, enhanced certification incentives, and a six month trial of a 48/96 schedule, allowing firefighters more time with their families while ensuring uninterrupted emergency response for Weslaco.

We thank City leadership, Local 3207, and our firefighters for their collaboration and commitment throughout this process. Together, we continue strengthening our department and the level of service we provide to the community. πŸš’
